Such books are worth reading only if you are forced. On the contrary, good books are usually very transparent and all images and hints are understood naturally. For example, Theodore Dreiser's book "Jenny Gerhardt" is very good, the author of style is a realist and all the prescribed images are very recognizable. The plot of the book is simple, but human feelings are described very seriously and deeply. In general, Dreiser is a rather difficult writer, especially for the "Trilogy of Desire," but "Jenny Gerhardt" combines the beauty of the author's syllable and extraordinary simplicity.
