What are the major rivers and lakes of China?

One of the remarkable features inherent in a huge state called China is the great variety of fresh water bodies. These are numerous deep-water rivers that stretch thousands of kilometers in length. They can be both deep, rich in underwater flora and fauna, and small, but at the same time incredibly beautiful and acceptable for bathing. Along with them there are also large lakes of China, which simply amaze with its beauty and purity. Therefore, we are going to try to tell in details about what remarkable and famous reservoirs this country is famous for.

Chinese water "grid"

The major rivers and lakes of China are a whole water system that is considered to be one of the largest in the world. In its fullness, this state ranks sixth in the world, following Brazil, Russia, Canada, the United States and Indonesia. Here there are both internal reservoirs that do not leave their channels and bays outside the country, as well as external ones that cross the borders of other powers and flow into the Indian, Pacific or the Arctic Ocean. Most of the major rivers and lakes in China are located in the eastern part of the country, but many of them stretch to other regions. In total, all the river channels of the state are 220 thousand kilometers, of which 64% are occupied by external waters, and the rest - inland water bodies, which are mostly small and small.

Brief data on the water bodies of China

In general, in the territory of this country there are more than 5000 rivers. The largest of them are external waters, and they flow into the World Ocean. Among these rivers are the Yangtze, the Yellow River (the two largest rivers and part of the country's symbolism), Pearl, Heilongjiang and others. The others, which we will name somewhat lower, are internal. Large rivers and lakes of China are not always interconnected, but smaller ponds have the property of flowing into vast reservoirs. Thus, all the rivers that flow inside the country often fall not into oceans, but into local lakes. Also an important aspect is that it is in the valleys of the largest rivers of the country that a large number of people live. Here, the density of the population is much higher than in other regions. But the lake of the country is rather a magnet for tourists. They are very beautiful here, clean and simply unique.

Water pride of Eurasia

When talking about the largest rivers of China, the first thing is called a water artery called the Yangtze. In addition to the fact that the river has always been the wet nurse and the mystical symbol of the country, it is also the first in terms of size and abundance in the whole of Eurasia. In the world, it takes the third place according to these data. In translation into Russian "Yangtze" means "Long River". In fact, the length of this waterway is 6,300 km, and it occupies the fifth part of the territory of the whole of China. Along the Yangtze, the largest density of population is observed, here megacities, dams, factories and factories are built. In ancient times, thanks to the waters of this river, the Chinese were able to invent an irrigation system. Then her waters, which reflected the blue sky, were holy. The river was called Blue or Blue, and its "colleague" was the Yellow River, which was called Yellow.

Pure yellow waters

By listing the largest rivers in China, it is impossible to overlook the famous Yellow River, which in Russian translates to "Yellow River". The length of this natural vein of the country is 5464 km, and it takes its origin at the foot of the Tibetan mountains. The Yellow River also falls into the Yellow Sea, not crossing the state border. The yellow color is attached to these waters by permanent deposits of various rocks, which are completely ecologically clean and do not pose a danger to humans. In contrast to the Yangtze, on the banks of which now grow mega-cities, towns and cities, along the Yellow River are quiet provincial towns. It was here that in the distant centuries the Chinese ethnos, its culture and traditions were formed.

Lakes - the beauty of the country

Now we will consider the case when the major rivers and lakes of China are linked. The largest freshwater body that does not have a current is Poyang Lake. It is connected to the biggest river of the Yangtze state by a small strait. This lake is located in Jiangxi province, that is on the right bank of the river. It is believed that this pond is not only the largest in the country, but also one of the most beautiful and interesting. In summer, the water here is slightly greenish, but it is very clean and transparent. In winter, many birds come here, who create their families here. By the way, another lake, which is connected to the Yangtze River, is considered Dongting. It is very extensive, but shallow. It was in its valleys that the famous Chinese "dragon boats" were born.

Other lakes in China

But part of the Yellow River of the Yellow River is considered to be quite unlike him Lake Hongzehu. Its water is not cast in yellow, but in a transparent blue, surrounded on all sides by a rich greenery. The lake itself was repeatedly spilled, thereby blocking the current of the Yellow River, after which the two reservoirs began to coexist as one. The last largest lake in the state is Chao, which is not associated with any river. A noteworthy feature of the reservoir is the island of Laoshan - a small green corner, where many trees and shrubs grow.

Conclusion

All the major rivers of China and the lake are a great pride for the country. Here there are both pure waters and polluted, but even so, the local people are proud of the history of their rivers, their power and greatness.
