West Berlin. Borders of West Berlin

The most prosperous and developed country in Europe is Germany. G. Berlin, which is the capital, is considered a city with a very ambiguous and complex history. And one of the most significant of its periods is the time interval, in the interval of which the capital was divided into two parts. That is to the East and West Berlin.

The beginning of history

After the Second World War was over, the occupation authorities in the western part of the capital began to act confidently towards a split in Berlin into two parts. A lot has been done for this. For example, the French, English and American sectors were drawn into the political as well as the economic system of the western part of the country. For a long time, West Berlin played a special role in the struggle that went against the GDR, as well as many other countries of the socialist regime. More than once, NATO members provoked West Berlin into conflicts, and it paid off. To be more precise, all this led to aggravation of relations between countries and the international situation as a whole. As a result, in 1961, at the end of summer, the GDR government decided to strengthen control and protection over this district. As a result, the borders of West Berlin were toughened, and the border regime was introduced.

East Berlin

This topic can not be ignored. After all, at that time there was West and East Berlin. What should I say about the latter? The integration of East Berlin into the GDR dates from the period 1948-1952. He was in an economic alliance with other lands of the occupation zone. But then they merged into the German Democratic Republic, and East Berlin became a single union with it, thus obtaining the right to elect deputies to the Chamber of Lands, as well as to the People's Chamber. The laws passed by the parliament came into force only after the City Assembly approved them. Actually, in East Berlin, the government, the parliament, the General Prosecutor's Office, as well as the Supreme Court were located. It is interesting that the constitution of East Berlin was adopted only in 1990, on April 23rd. Until this moment, her role was fulfilled by the Provisional Constitution of Greater Berlin.

Developments

In 1953, an anti-government mass protest took place in East Berlin. But it was quickly crushed by Soviet troops, as the GDR leadership required it. Then West Berlin became literally a "showcase", the center of the whole district. It was really a city with a good standard of living at that time, with democratic freedom and social protection. At that time, the "temporary capital" of Germany designated the city of Bonn. Speaking about the GDR, it placed its capital in the Eastern District, respectively. The confrontation intensified, and in 1961 the construction of the Berlin Wall began. Initiative for this project was laid by the socialist GDR. Citizens from one side to another could only pass through specially built for this purpose points. There, people passed control, after which they were either allowed to cross the border, or not.

Relations with Germany

In 1972, the four-party agreement between the USSR, France, Britain and the United States came into force and several agreements concerning a number of issues related to the FRG, the GDR and the Senate itself, under whose control West Berlin was under control. After that, the tense situation, which had already become the norm for the neighborhood of the city, was asleep. This agreement allowed to maintain good relations between West Berlin and the Federal Republic of Germany, moreover, they had to even develop on this document. However, under one condition - if the sectors are still considered separate from the Federal Republic. This could be called a kind of compromise.

Policy

We should also say a few words about the political way of West Berlin. The highest authority was the Chamber of Deputies, and the executive was executed by the senate, whose head was the ruling mayor. It should also be noted that they were controlled by the occupation authorities. Speaking of political parties, the first thing I would like to mention is the social democratic, free and Christian. They were considered land organizations of certain parties of the Federal Republic. It is impossible not to mention the socialist single party, in other words speaking - Marxist-Leninist. On the territory of West Berlin, there was also an association of German trade unions and many other organizations.

Development and Prosperity

East and West Berlin (the map of the old city demonstrates exactly how the present capital was divided) were really different districts, and each of them lived its own life. A huge number of plans began to appear regarding the use of the territory of West Berlin, ideas for improving the infrastructure. Intensively developed a plan for improving the Eastern part. Began to appear whole concepts, designed for further development prospects. The roads were also reconstructed. There was a very serious approach to this. For example, the ring road was connected by highways with the central part. There was a system of representative streets. And the area called Kurfurstendamm was considered a single business center. So the East and the West part of the current capital of Germany developed until the fall of the Berlin Wall. And it happened quite recently - only in 1989, again on the initiative of the GDR, due to the fact that the USSR refused to interfere in the political issues of the Republic.

Nowadays

The Berlin Wall has fallen relatively recently, as already mentioned, and, probably, it is for this reason that the Eastern and Western parts of the capital are significantly different from each other. Everything is different: starting with the color of the lanterns, ending with the architecture. The western part is rich in the brightest sights of the city of Berlin. The photos, which depict some of them, definitely inspire the study of the history of this city. So, for example, we should note the park Tiergarten and the column of Victory. Or the Bellevue Palace, which is located in a picturesque park area. At the moment it is considered a presidential residence.

Architecture and cultural heritage

The architecture of West Berlin can not but attract the eye. The Pearl of Charlottenburg is considered the pearl and the property of the capital. Its erection dates back to the 17th century for the wife of Frederick III, Sophia-Charlotte. And, of course, shining with magnificence Reichstag. He was ordered to build King William, at the end of the 19th century (to be precise, in 1884). Paul Valotta was engaged in the creation of an architectural plan, and as a result, the building was erected. However, in 1933 he was set on fire. But after the Second World War ended, the Reichstag was reconstructed. East Berlin is more modern in architectural terms, but this is exactly the highlight of the capital. A harmonious combination of ancient buildings and modern attractions is what attracts people from all over the world to this city. And as usual tourists, and historians, archaeologists, as well as other personalities who consider the real heritage of the city of Berlin. Photos that exist today, can not fully convey the power of the capital, but give an idea of it - quite.
