Weaving from paper - talented, unique, elegant

The creative principle in man is one of the most distinctive qualities in the essence of people. It is this that puts homo sapiens on the highest stage of development, and it also distinguishes representatives of the human race among themselves. In addition to trivial music, literature and fine arts, there are types of creativity that are part of the group "needlework." And in this group there are so many different subgroups that you simply marvel at the scope and diversity of the imagination of the masters!

This is knitting, and embroidery, and applique, and sawing. But every year the number of these subgroups increases, revealing new, extremely unpredictable talents. For example, quite recently a direction appeared, which is called "weaving from paper".

Of course, any kind of creative activity requires perseverance, free time and various materials and tools. Weaving from paper favorably differs from all other hobbies in that only a pair of scissors, a knitting needle or a round wooden stick for shish kebabs and glue are needed from the tools. And old newspapers or advertising booklets serve as a material, and a large number accumulates in each apartment from time to time.

Before starting work, cut the paper in long strips approximately one decimeter wide. Then it is recommended to wind the strips on the spoke in such a way that the long thin tubes will turn out, then the needlewoman or the master will perform the weaving from the paper.

To make the tubes long and neat, similar to willow, it is most convenient to apply the needle at an angle of 15-20 degrees to the long side of the strip. After winding, the tip should be fixed with glue, and carefully remove the spoke.

The next stage, which involves weaving from paper - is the direct manufacture of wicker. If the designed model has a rounded shape, then it is necessary to twist between 4-5 share and the same number of transverse tubules. And the next sixth newspaper stick is already rounded, gradually inserting a new one into the socket of the transverse "vine" as necessary. It is possible to fix glue in the points of elongation of the tubes. After the product of the rounded bottom becomes the right size, the tubes protruding in all directions must be bent upwards and already in this position to continue making the product.

Sometimes the master chooses a model of braiding of an object: a beautiful bottle, a loaf of bread, or a pencil cup. Then you just have to repeat the shape of the selected object, gently pressing the guide tubes as soon as possible bringing them closer to the original. It is permissible to use a cardboard round bottom when making a cup or bread without form.

But if a beginner is taking over for the job, then there is nothing easier for him than to make a basket of paper. By the way, for the basket weaving not only round tubules, but also flat, folded strips are quite suitable. From time to time, you can also fasten the last completed rows using a stapler.

Having completed the first stage of work, that is, weaving a rectangular bottom of the right size, it is strengthened with cardboard. Then the free ends of the weave are bent upwards and the next strip or "lozenge" is already laid round, just as it is done in the manufacture of a product with a round bottom.

After completing the model, you need to fix the ends with glue or stapler and cut off all unnecessary. Further, the basket can be covered with dark varnish for furniture. This will not only greatly approximate the appearance of the model to the original, made from real willow twigs or bast, but also to strengthen the product.

But a real masterpiece of talented artists who chose paper as their working material are paper sculptures. To make them, the paper is macerated in a special way and filled with a mold obtained from gruel from clay or gypsum. After drying and taking out the details of their molds, it is treated with an acute scalpel.
