We travel together. Capital of Canada

The capital of Canada ... Strange as it may seem, but one has only to ask about the main city of this huge northern country, how often it is possible to hear a lot of wrong answers. The most common, perhaps, is a tirade of the type: "Well, of course, Montreal! What, no? Well, then maybe Vancouver? Also no? Toronto?"

Neither the one, nor the other, nor the third! In fact, the capital of the state is Ottawa. Montreal is the so-called capital of the French province, Toronto can rightly be considered the main city of the Ukrainian diaspora, and Vancouver is simply a modern, exciting metropolitan area.

Located in the province of Ontario, on the banks of the river of the same name, the capital of Ottawa is the fourth largest city in the country. Today its population is 875 thousand inhabitants.

And the city was founded long ago, even in the first half of the 19th century, although up until 1855 it had a completely different name, called Baytown in honor of a certain John Bey, who at that time led the construction of the Kido Canal.

A small village grew and developed, gradually becoming a major administrative center. According to the decision of the government of the country, in Ottawa in 1857 becomes the capital of the province of Ontario, and in 10 years the main city of the country, in which I will fight not only the parliament, but most of all federal institutions.

Today, scientific and technical centers are developing and flourishing everywhere. Industry does not lag behind them, because, as you know, Ottawa can be proud of and its second name. The car capital of Canada! And this, you see, is quite a lot.
