However, still the most favorite for many are the roller coaster, the essence of which is to rise as high as possible and move out as quickly as possible. And the competition in this race is very high. You can not even imagine what speeds reach such rides! Fans of thrills come from all over the world to try these incredible attractions on their own. What are the most extreme roller coasters that exist today? At what height can they lift you? How fast will you move?

It turns out that the fastest attractions have long overcome the mark of 100 kilometers per hour, and some of them can develop speeds of more than 200 kilometers per hour. In this list you will find the fastest attractions in the world, placed in the order of the maximum speed achieved during the trip.

Intimidator 305

This attraction is located in the amusement park in Doswell, Virginia, and the inspiration in this case was the race driver Dale Earnhardt. This attraction develops speeds up to 145 kilometers per hour. It is worth noting that when it was first launched, it reached a speed of 150 kilometers per hour, but the creators had to rework it because the people inside were subjected to too much pressure.

Leviathan

Created by Swiss industry giants, the attraction is located in Canada, not far from Toronto. It develops speeds up to 148 kilometers per hour. Visitors come here from all over the world, as they like a combination of great speed and incredible smooth ride.

Millennium Force

This is the first giga attraction in the world (the height of which was above 90 meters) broke all records when it began its work in 2000. It is located in Ohio and, like the previous attraction, was created by the Swiss. He develops a speed of 150 kilometers per hour after descending from a height of 95 meters. Despite the fact that he is almost twenty years old, this attraction still remains one of the best in the world.

Steel Dragon 2000

This attraction, located in Japan, almost immediately selected the world's fastest title from the previous one, when it was opened in the same year 2000. Its maximum speed is 152 kilometers per hour, and the elevation from which the cabin pulls away is so significant that to lift it to the top it takes not one but two lifting chains.

Ring Racer

Located in Germany, the attraction was first launched in 2009. Its unique launch system, using compressed air, was created in order to accelerate the trains to a speed of 215 kilometers per hour. However, due to the concern of its creators with the pressure that affects passengers, within the scope of the attraction the speed was reduced to 159 kilometers per hour. The path of this attraction runs parallel to the present race track, which gives passengers an unforgettable experience.

Superman: Escape from Krypton and Tower of Terror

The fifth place is shared by two attractions, which are in Australia. And they both launch their passengers at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour, and then allow them to descend down the practically steep slope. Thus, for one trip, passengers twice reach 160 km per hour: the first time at launch and the second - at descent.

Dodonpa

This attraction works on air draft. It is located in Japan and can accelerate to 172 kilometers per hour. And given the fact that it starts at an angle of 90 degrees to the ground, this attraction is mandatory for all fans of speed and adrenaline. It is worth noting that travelers from all over the world fly here to ride this attraction, although the duration of the trip is only a minute.

Top Thrill Dragster

And again the attraction from the Swiss creators, which is in the same park as the Millennium Force. It opened in 2003 and became the first attraction using a hydraulic launch to accelerate from zero to 193 kilometers per hour in just a couple of seconds. The duration of the trip is only 17 seconds, but this attraction still remains one of the most attractive in the park, even after almost fifteen years.

Kingda Ka

The amusement park in New Jersey challenged the already mentioned park of Ohio, having launched in 2005 this attraction. It is made by the same manufacturers as the attraction in Ohio, and practically does not differ in design except that it develops a speed of 205 kilometers per hour and a height of 138 meters. Otherwise, these attractions are almost the same, but high-speed fans report that there is a huge difference between 193 and 205 kilometers per hour.

Formula Rossa

Well, the fastest attraction to date is in Abu Dhabi. It develops a speed of 239 kilometers per hour. It also uses a hydraulic start system, and passengers need to wear special glasses while driving.
