Waterproofing foil: application features

What is the most important element in the insulation and protection from excessive amounts of moisture of any structure? Of course, the waterproofing film (or superdiffusion membrane, waterproofing, hydro- barrier), which is an element of the facade or roofing structure, allowing air to pass through, but retaining water.

The distinctive features that it possesses can be denoted by two words - hydrophobicity and vapor permeability. The most important aspect, which, first of all, it is necessary to pay attention to when choosing this material is the ability to pass air. Due to this property, the film can "breathe", which makes it possible to extend the life of any structure to a considerable extent.

It should be noted that the color of the material does not matter, because all samples have almost identical characteristics. You can find on the market white, colored, black or transparent waterproofing films, which are usually sold in rolls, which greatly facilitates their use.

Waterproofing film consists of three layers: medium - reinforcing, in the form of a grid of polyethylene fibers, and outside - two layers of polyethylene film.

It can be of two types - flat and perforated. Flat is used for waterproofing foundation masonry, when installing the floor on the open ground, installing flooring, etc. This film is the most resistant and resistant to various chemical influences.

Perforated waterproofing film is used to protect the basement or basement parts of the building from moisture, etc., and to isolate the "green" roofs (on which a lawn or flat-bottomed flower bed is later planned) is the best option. The special cells of this film create a small space between the surface to which it adjoins and the film itself, in which steam circulates without interference, and moisture escapes into it.

Waterproofing film, due to its properties, has found wide application. So, it is used for insulation of roofs of walls, cellars and foundations, pools, etc.

In comparison with other methods of waterproofing, it has such advantages:

  • Resistance to the influence of ultraviolet rays.
  • The service life is about 50 years.
  • Increased resistance to the effects of negative external factors - decay, oxidation, etc.
  • Waterproofing film is absolutely safe for the environment and human.
  • Preservation of elasticity in any temperature conditions (from -40 ° C to + 50 ° C).
  • The reliability of the structure helps to resist any mechanical damage - punctures, minor bumps, germination of tree roots, etc.
  • Practically does not undergo corrosion.
  • Resistant to many household chemicals.

The use of a waterproofing film is also advisable in order to save money, since the use of expensive concrete works is completely excluded from its use . And thanks to the ease of installation, the work is done as soon as possible.
