Victor Ortiz: the champion who has risen from the very bottom

The American boxing ring has never lacked real professionals and talents. One of these masters is a fighter with Mexican roots Victor Ortiz. His skill and diligence provided him, albeit briefly, but still a rise to the top, which manifested itself in the conquest of the world title. Biographical moments

Victor Ortiz was born on the last day of January 1987 in Kansas, the city of Garden City. His family was a vivid example of Mexican emigrants. The boy was the second child, and there were three children. At the age of seven, Victor was left without a mother who left the family. His father was an inveterate alcoholic and often beat his offspring. A few years after the mother's departure, the children were left without the pope, who also left them. This situation forced the young man to start working on the plantations in order to survive. At the age of thirteen, Victor Ortiz fell under the state's guardianship program and was forcibly separated from his relatives.

Youth

Unfortunately, the young American still fell under the influence of the street and traded in ecstasy and marijuana. But at the same time, he was actively engaged in boxing and even was able to win the prestigious Golden Gloves tournament. Thanks to this, Victor Ortis finally quit with crime and went headlong into the sport.

Training in the "Center for the Red Shield Salvation Army," the young talent was under the tutelage of five coaches at once. And already in 2002, after the age of older sister Ortiz left for Denver, where he continued to study boxing. In 2003 Victor became the winner of the youth Olympic tournament.

At the age of 17, the young man was summoned to watch in the adult Olympic team, but eventually was eliminated.

The beginning of a professional career

At the profile of Victor Ortiz, whose battles were ultimately impressive, came out in 2004. The first seven fights he won fairly easily. In the battle with Corey Elacron, the young talent performed brilliantly, but due to violation of the rules Ortiz eventually was disqualified, although he won the duel. After that, Victor spent 9 more successful fights, and on January 19, 2007, for the first time, he brought the fight to a draw by reason of a head cut. The first serious opponent for our hero was Emmanuel Clottey, whom the American Mexican sent to the knockout in the 10th round. The next fight was even more important, as the opponent of Victor was the former world champion Colombian Carlos Maussa. But "Evil" could knock out a competitor in the first three minutes.

Contract with Oscar de La Hoya

Having signed the contract for battles, Victor Ortiz got a new round of development of his career. Already in September 2008, the fighter was able to get the right to his first title fight, in which he defeated Robert Arietta and took his belt of the champion under the WBO NABO version. Victor was recognized as the most promising boxer of the year.

In March 2009, Ortiz first appeared on HBO. The battle was formed for him successfully, and the opponent was sent into a knockout.

First defeat

June 2009. The fight for the title of interim WBA champion. Victor boxing with Marcos Maidana. Already in the first round, both fighters were knocked down. In the second round, the Argentinean was twice knocked down, but from the 5th round he was able to reverse the course of the battle. In the sixth round the fight was stopped because of the strongest hematoma in Ortiz.

The most important fight in the welterweight

For this fight Victor rose to the category above. His opponent was champion Andre Berto. The fight was very spectacular with a lot of knockdowns, which in the end earned the title of the best fight of the year. Ortiz won on points.

Opposition in Mayweather

Already from the first round, Floyd began to dominate and excel Ortiz in technique. Victor was constantly advancing, but this did not help him. The key moment of the battle was the blow to the head, which "spiteful" caused Mayweather near the ropes. For this violation from the champion was withdrawn one point. Floyd, in turn, went ahead and, breaking through the left side and right straight, knocked out Ortiz.

As we see, the biography of Victor Ortiz is very full and literally teems with various events, the number of which will suffice some simple people for a lifetime. Whatever it was, Victor deserves our respect, if only for not breaking down under the press of colossal difficulties and being able to become the best in his business.
