Use of adhesives for aerated concrete - basic rules

To build a house of aerated concrete blocks, you need to think through all the nuances to the smallest detail, including selecting the most suitable mixture that will be used in construction. The most advantageous option can be a special glue. By its properties, it is most resistant to severe frost and high humidity. It can also be used for leveling various rough surfaces and shpaklevke buildings.

The main types, characteristics and benefits of aerated concrete

The adhesive used for aerated concrete structures has some advantages over cement mortar. The composition of this product includes Portland cement and fractional sand. Thanks to them, the thickness of the adhesive layer is less by 2-3 mm. At the same time, it does not lose its quality characteristics. Such glue is sufficiently plastic, it is moisture resistant, seizes with the surface instantly. It can harden without shrinkage and does not form "cold bridges". Important properties of the adhesive for aerated concrete are relative ease and practicality in application. For its preparation, no special effort is required. It is only necessary to thoroughly mix the dry product with water - and you can start work safely. The solution can be used for several hours.

Components that are part of the glue

This tool is made of special substances, such as:

  1. Portland cement of high quality.
  2. Sifted sand.
  3. Various additives from polymers.
  4. Additives that do not allow the seams to crack.

The undoubted advantages of the building material are in front of you:

  1. The temperature at which the glue is used is from + 5 ° C to + 30 ° C.
  2. Moisture resistance reaches 95%.
  3. The adhesive is used for 2 hours.
  4. It freezes for about 15 minutes.
  5. Within 3 minutes you can adjust the surface.

Apply this product to the surface with an ordinary spatula thickness of 2 or 3 mm. The surface is leveled by tapping it lightly. In order for the masonry to dry out uniformly, it is covered with an object. This can be a plastic film or tarpaulin. On average, the glue is taken in such proportions: one bag per cube of concrete.

Choice of glue in winter time

If you build a building in the winter, then you need to choose the glue that corresponds to cold weather, and also one that can withstand low temperatures. This composition usually includes additives that protect the surface from frost. However, when applied to the surface, the air temperature should be at least -10 ° C.

The main properties of winter glue for aerated concrete:

  1. Presence of antifreeze additives.
  2. Grey Colour.
  3. This material is used for any type of construction work.
  4. Absence of susceptibility to external factors.
  5. Resistance to frost.
  6. Does not absorb moisture.
  7. In the ecological terms, absolutely pure product.

Frost-resistant glue must be stored in a warm room. The solution is done with the addition of warm water. Its temperature should not be below + 10 ° C. The surface on which the glue will be applied must be absolutely clean. The time of use of this tool is half an hour.

Consumption of glue for aerated concrete

To choose a quality product is easy enough, as there are a lot of good manufacturers on the building materials market. But, unfortunately, the consumption of adhesive for aerated concrete for each product is different.

Have such a tool and its pluses. It needs half as much as the usual solution, which is used in construction work. Adhesive seam should be 5 mm, while ordinary seam reaches 10 mm. Buying the described tool, you can easily determine what the glue consumption is for each millimeter of the surface being treated, since such figures are indicated on the package. And yet the theory is a theory, but in practice everything can be different. After all, in work on the expense of such a tool many unforeseen moments are affected. This includes the characteristics of the work of each worker, the tools used by specialists, the weather at which such activities are carried out.

Optimal price

As for the price of the adhesive for aerated concrete, it can vary. If you have a choice: a minimum price or a high-quality product, choose the second one. You should not save on the quality of the goods, because otherwise you will have to spend twice as much money as planned. The price of the adhesive for aerated concrete depends on its main components and on what additives are included in its composition. 25 kg of funds are in the range of 300-800 rubles.

Relatively inexpensive glue little-known brand is unlikely to be able to boast some unique properties. When you purchase it, you spend a lot, and the work will be done with poor quality material. Therefore, before making such a purchase, you need to carefully study the manufacturer, find reviews about the products that goes under this brand. Let you give a little more money for a purchase, but it will be worth it. The results of the work will pleasantly surprise you.

Expenditure for 1 m³

Use in the construction of glue for aerated concrete blocks provides a good economy. To work it needs much less than the usual building materials. The consumption of adhesive for aerated concrete per 1 m3 is approximately as follows: an average of 15 to 30 kg of dry glue or a bag weighing 25 kg. But this is only theoretically. In practice, the ideal ratio is as follows: 1.5 bags per 1 m³. The thinner the layer of glue on the surface, the better the masonry will turn out.
