Unusual Uzbek names (female)

Uzbek female names have a complex anthroponymic structure. The origin of the nicknames, their interpretation and peculiarities of use - all this is of considerable interest to scientists.

It is believed that the diversity of the names of this nationality can be divided into two groups:

1. They were formed as a result of borrowing from Arab culture.

2. Aboriginal Uzbek, or so-called national.

In the Arab culture, girls are gentle and beautiful creatures that are responsible for the comfort in the house and store a home. As a result of mutual influence, the same attitude towards the ladies was also fixed in Uzbek culture: in the denomination there are frequent references to the girl's desire, her beauty and statues, charming appearance, etc. In addition, the close relationship of the Arab people with the religion of Islam also had an impact on Uzbek names (women's). Common nicknames were the names of associates of the prophet and other famous women.

The names of the national group are melodic and gentle sounding and metaphorical. An example of such nicknames can be beautiful Uzbek women's names Altyngul and Gulchehra, who compare girls with exquisite flowers.

Nevertheless, many nicknames are known, which are borrowed from various legends and fairy tales, and are adopted by celebrated personalities marked on the pages of history.

It is also fair to single out a special group, which includes Uzbek names (female), meaning the names of plants and animals. Similar nicknames were often encountered earlier, but at present they are rarely used, and in this connection they are often reckoned as rare names. Another feature of the Uzbek people can be considered a custom to replace women's nicknames with men in the hope that a boy will appear in the family. It would seem that these are traditions of antiquity, but even now such cases sometimes occur.

Modern Uzbek names (female) often have in their structure such particles as -gul, -oim, -ok and -nur. Each of them speaks about the beauty of the girl, her purity and cleanliness, calls her a beauty and possessor of the inner light that gives it to people.

Customs of the name of the naming of the Uzbek people are rooted in antiquity. An example of such traditions that have come from the depths of centuries, we can assume that the child's nickname is not chosen by the parents of the baby, as is customary in European countries, but the parents of the husband, that is, the grandfather and grandmother on the paternal line. Often, newborn girls are given Uzbek names (women's) worn by their great-grandmothers.

There are also many features related to addressing peers or the older generation, women or men. For example, when referring to older or higher-ranking people, one should use the particle "aka" (to men) or "opa" (to women), which is located after the main name.

At present, the interest in the Muslim scripture , the Koran, has revived, and many new and unusual nicknames have appeared in Uzbek children.
