Treatment of seborrhea of the scalp

Seborrhea is a fairly common disease of the human skin, associated with metabolic disorders in the body, and a violation of the sebaceous glands of the skin. Most often the disease appears in adolescence, when the hormonal background begins to change, which is associated with the appearance of youthful acne and dandruff and can last a lifetime. In adults, the disease is lethargic, but it constantly brings trouble, since seborrhea manifests itself with the appearance of dandruff, hair loss, fast fading hair, acne on the face.

Fat seborrhea is more common in men from puberty and up to 50-60 years, later signs of the disease begin to weaken and may disappear altogether. If you leave seborrhea untreated, then eventually hair begins to fall out, and baldness appears on the vertex.

In women, oily seborrhea is manifested, mainly, by frequent head washing, because due to the large amount of sebum, the hair is heavily greased and quickly becomes fat and sticks together. There is also excessive hair loss and itchy scalp. Such patients are forced to wash their hair every day.

Dry seborrhea of the scalp.

Women are more often ill at a young age, with time manifestations intensify and reach their peak in 50-60 years. Dry seborrhea manifests itself in the hypofunction of the sebaceous glands, as a result of which the hair and scalp become dry and do not lubricate with sebum. Hair becomes dull, brittle and falls out. A very characteristic feature for dry seborrhea is a large amount of dandruff, which looks like flakes. Dandruff sticks from the head to the shoulders, especially when combing the hair. This is also manifested by itching and unpleasant sensations. Dry seborrhea can be the cause of other skin diseases, for example, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, etc.

Treatment of seborrhea of the scalp.

Since there is no specific cause for the development of the disease, and it is considered to be polyethological, it is logical to note that the treatment of seborrhea of the scalp, both oily and dry, must begin with the treatment of the underlying disease associated with metabolic disorders in the body.

Most often, there are endocrine diseases, metabolic disorders, neuropsychiatric disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, etc.

An important means of treating seborrhea of the scalp is to maintain a diet and establish proper nutrition, as this can solve half of the problem, and sometimes completely eliminate it.

To do this, you must exclude from the diet all fatty, fried, salty, spicy, sweet, and vice versa, increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables, dairy products, porridges, large amounts of liquid.

Treatment of seborrhea of the scalp should be comprehensive and regular.

There is also vitamin therapy, water procedures, darsonvalization, physiotherapy and sanatorium treatment with hydrogen sulfide waters.
