Ingrown nail: treatment at home is possible?

Has your walk always been easy, as in your youth? Agree that no. Of course, age is of great importance, but there are other reasons for the appearance of problems with your legs, in which you already do not really "run up". Vascular asterisks, widening of veins, inflamed joints, puffiness are serious diseases that prevent not only walking on high heels, but even just moving without pain in ordinary shoes on a flat sole. The appearance of problems is most often associated with overweight or incorrect lifestyle in general (sedentary work, excessive consumption of fatty and sweet food, lack of physical activity). But sometimes on the toes appear, at first glance, a little trouble - calluses or ingrown nails. Treatment at home at the first appearance of signs of defects can be carried out quickly and without consequences. And the best option is to carry out preventive work.

How to prevent problems with nails on the legs?

Among all people there is a so-called "risk group". Due to the presence of one or more unfavorable factors, the risk of ingrown nail on the legs increases. Therefore, if possible, observe the following rules:

  • Shoes should be quite free, not squeezing the fingers, so do not buy "pointed" models;
  • Conduct daily hygienic procedures for the feet with mandatory replacement of socks;
  • Cut the nails strictly along the horizontal line, not rounding off the edges, which will avoid ingrowth;
  • With a long forced position in the standing position, let's alternately rest every leg, moving the center of gravity and moving your fingers.

How to cure an ingrown nail without surgery?

The most effective method of conservative treatment is the fusion of the middle layer of the nail plate. The remaining thickness should be no more than ½ of the original thickness. The nail will slowly "shrink" to the middle, which gradually eliminates ingrowing on the sides. This procedure can be carried out once every three weeks.

Ingrown nail: treatment at home (with the help of folk remedies)

At the initial stage, you can eliminate the problem with the help of chamomile trays. Pour six tablespoons of dried or fresh flowers with two liters of boiling water and cook for ten minutes. In a strained warm solution, keep finger with the affected nail until completely cool. Repeat the procedure on a daily basis. After a while, you can remove the ingrown nail painlessly.

What to do in case of emergency?

But it happens that you are very worried about an ingrown nail. Treatment at home by a small surgical procedure can be attempted only if there is a slight defect. If there is swelling, discoloration of nearby tissues from pink to blue shades, suppuration or other anxiety symptoms - you urgently need medical attention. Only in special conditions and by a specialist doctor can be removed a very ingrown nail. Treatment at home is undesirable in order to avoid possible infection and the occurrence of an inflammatory process. Take care of your legs constantly and follow all the recommendations!
