How to adjust the shoulder: self-direction and medical methods

To injure the arm and get a shoulder dislocation it is possible under different conditions. Learning to correct the situation and provide first aid to yourself or others is very important. Medical statistics indicate that the shoulder dislocation is more than 55% of all injuries, which is not surprising. The special structure of the shoulder joint made it the most vulnerable place in injury, if compared with other joints. Therefore, the statistical indicators are so high. If this happens, you should know how to set your shoulder.

Physicians practice four main ways of putting the joint in place:

  • Hippocrates-Cooper;
  • According to Kocher;
  • The Janelidze method;
  • The way of Chaklin.

From the practical point of view, each of them can be realized only with the help of another person. Ideally, it should be a doctor or specialist who is familiar with such injuries. But there are situations when there are no strangers.

How to adjust the shoulder yourself - the algorithm of actions

To correct the injury you have to resort to using your own shoulder. Act as follows:

  1. The injured person must sit on a solid surface (land, bed or something else), while there should be a free space behind it.
  2. Next, you need to bend your knees (or one from the side of the dislocation) and press them as close to the body as possible. Now, the legs are wrapped around their hands, locking their fingers into the lock, and the thumbs should be positioned upwards.
  3. When the patient is grouped, it is necessary to begin to deviate back without making sharp movements without making any sharp movements. Do this in such a way that all efforts are on the injured shoulder.
  4. Continue until the joint is in place.

Even if you know how to fix a shoulder, it's better not to do it yourself. Incorrect, abrupt actions can lead to aggravation of the situation, for example, infringement, fracture or a larger displacement of bones.

In almost every case, trauma is associated with severe pain. For relief of sensations should take an analgesic. And only after that start the process described above. Now you know how to set your shoulder yourself, but it's better to ask for qualified help.

The procedure for the elimination of injury by Hippocrates-Cooper

First of all, the patient should be put on his back. The doctor or the one who will eliminate the dislocation, faces the victim from the side of the injury and takes his hand with both hands.

Now, before adjusting the shoulder, you need to remove the shoes from the foot, corresponding to the side of the dislocation. The foot is placed in the armpit, in the area of the head of the joint, and begin to press, while stretching the patient's arm along the axis.

It is important to ensure that the movements are synchronous and simultaneous. This avoids the risk of complications. As a result, you will be able to quickly and correctly put the joint in place.

Direction of dislocation in Chaklin

The patient is located in a horizontal position on the back, and the guide becomes his head. One hand needs to take the injured for a brush, and the second one should be put on his shoulder in the area of the head of the joint. After this, you need to start gently pulling the head of the shoulder to the side.

The presented technique is absolutely not suitable for independent use because it is too painful. It is practiced by doctors only after the patient is anesthetized. Most often, the method is applied in cases when dislocation has entailed a simple fracture.

The Janelidze correction method

As in the previous case, the patient must be anesthetized prior to the procedure. After that, he is laid on the table with a sick side. It is important to control the posture of the victim and make sure that the edge of the couch passes under the armpit, and the hand hangs down. After this, the patient is left to lie about 20 minutes in this position.

Before fixing the shoulder, the physician must stand facing the patient, with one hand firmly hold it in the area of the forearm, and begin pressing in the area closer to the elbow. Together with it it is necessary to press and on a humeral joint in circular motions. As a result, you can quickly eliminate the injury.

After all the manipulations, a fixing bandage is applied to the injured arm and fastened to the chest. To check the correctness of the performance of all actions and to avoid complications, it is necessary to make a radiography.

After a week, the bandage is removed, and the patient is recommended to begin rehabilitation gymnastics. Full working capacity is possible not earlier than in a month.

The Kocher Method

The presented method is prohibited for patients of the older age group and for osteoporosis. The patient is laid back on the couch in such a way that the injured hand is outside.

The further actions consist of four stages:

  1. The doctor takes the injured hand in the area of the elbow and hand, while the elbow needs to be bent by 90 degrees. Further it is taken to the trunk, and the arm is pulled along the axis. Assistant at this time as much as possible firmly fixes the forearm.
  2. Now, in a circular motion, rotate the shoulder until it enters the frontal plane. It is necessary to turn the head forward. After clicking, the shoulder is considered to be fixed.
  3. Now the doctor pulls the patient's forearm up and points to the right. It is necessary to make sure that the elbow remains pressed to the body. For some, only at this stage is the shoulder refilled.
  4. Finally, the surgeon forwards the joint to the place with a sharp forearm movement. After the hand, the injured hand is placed on the other shoulder, and the forearm on the chest. Fix the hand.

It is not recommended to deal with the injury yourself. It is best to seek qualified help, where the doctor will determine how to correct the shoulder dislocation to avoid complications.
