Toxicosis and sex of the child. Is it possible to find a connection?

Practically from the moment of conception, the future mother wants to know who has settled in her tummy - a boy or a girl. To date, the most accurate method for determining the sex of a future baby is ultrasound. But sometimes it is mistaken, and sometimes the crumb "shows its character" and categorically refuses to show its "identification signs". Yes, and wait for 16 weeks, when such a diagnosis becomes possible, so do not want to. Because the course and go all sorts of folk signs and grandmothers' beliefs. And one of them says that the toxicosis and sex of the child are interrelated.

Such a belief has been known for a very long time. Allegedly, two women can not get along with each other. And because the girl "fights" with her mother, arranging for her attacks of nausea and other "joys" of toxicosis. The boy, on the other hand, manifests himself as a gentleman and does not want to cause trouble to his mother, and therefore the pregnant woman feels well.

And what does science say?

Let's try to figure out whether there is any scientific justification for such a point of view. If a woman has toxicosis, a boy or girl will be born with her? It turns out that research on this topic was conducted in Stockholm. Scientists of the Karolinsky Institute suggested that toxicosis depends on the level of the hormone hCG in the blood of a pregnant woman. The more it is, the more pronounced the toxicosis. At the same time, they found that hCG is elevated in those women who are waiting for the girl. If we take into account both these factors, then we can say that the toxicosis and sex of the child are really related to each other. For confirmation, some observations were made. The result of their somewhat struck scientists. They examined women with severe toxicosis. As a result, 56% had girls, and 44% had future men. That is, the gap is not so large that it is accurate to state that it is possible to unequivocally determine the sex of the child for toxicosis.

On the other hand, the reasons for which this state is so unpleasant for a future mother is not exactly defined. After all, this can serve not only chorionic gonadotropin, but also changes in the digestive tract, uterine stretching, hormonal changes. And for every change every organism reacts individually. Therefore, it is hardly possible to bind toxicosis and the sex of the child.

And what do moms think?

Among women there is also no unequivocal opinion. Each pregnancy passes in its own way. Someone, on a personal example, was convinced of the authenticity of this popular omen. Some mothers of girls were tormented by the strongest toxicosis, and the mothers of the boys were safely relieved of this condition. However, there are other examples. So, many girls during fetal development did not deliver mums the slightest trouble, while the boys "puked" with might and main, forcing the pregnant woman to spend many hours in the bathroom.

And if you once again connect science to this issue, you can say that only 30% of pregnant women suffer from severe toxicosis. But this does not mean that boys are born in 70% of cases. Therefore, probably, it can hardly be said that the toxicosis and sex of the child are inextricably linked.
