Tips for a freshman: a game by the rules

So, the school was left behind. Now you are at a new stage of development, there has come a new era in your life - learning at the university. You immediately understand that in the university requirements for you will be very different from the school. It will be difficult for you - but also interesting. The University is an opportunity to engage only in favorite subjects. There are certain rules of the game in higher education institutions. What advice do freshmen find most useful?

How to learn everything

University education is rather insidious - the time from the moment when you are given knowledge, until the moment when your knowledge is checked, is long enough. Therefore, without the use of repetition techniques, it will be very difficult for you to remember the material. This is especially true for high school students who can feel a lot of stress from being unable to remember everything. In fact, there is an opportunity, but it turns out to be real only for those who prepare themselves every day and regularly repeat the material.

Work with material

Good advice to first-year students necessarily include some time management techniques. Be sure to accustom yourself to fight with procrastination or procrastination. If it's hard for you to force yourself to read a huge material, divide it into parts and make a reading schedule. Psychologically, it's much easier than thinking that you need to read 200 pages, for example. Such volumes for the university are normal, so it would be good to master the technique of viewing reading. I'm not talking about speed reading, because speed reading does not help to absorb the material well. But to find the right thing is worth learning.

Live brightly

Qualitative advice to a freshman is often given by a person who works in the social and psychological service. Often, universities conduct trainings for oratory, leadership, and self-confidence. They are often free. Be sure to sign up and "try trainings for a taste." You come to the university not only to study and hang out. Another very important after-hour activity. At your service are charity, music clubs, sports sections, KVN and contests. The student's life stage is often remembered not as a series of tests and examinations, the best memories are funny performances, victories at contests and competitions, interuniversity olympiads in subjects.

Do not turn into a zombie

Freshman's advice also includes a rather boring reminder. Despite the reduction in control, do not miss classes and lectures. And be sure to communicate with the teacher at the lecture. This will add you points on the exam. Often questions in the process of the lecture, even if not very smart, distinguish you from the hundreds. And you can get more points on the exam than you really deserve, just for not being silent. Interestingly, participating in the lecture will add to you points of respect and on the part of classmates. And the lecturers are very fond of active students, even if they disagree with the teacher. Nobody likes lecturing a hundred zombies who just do that they look at their watches.

Tips for a freshman are simple: learn to work with voluminous materials, do not delay work, participate in the life of the university and give a voice in lectures.
