Thriller "Captives": actors, roles, short story

In the film "Captive" actors played a terrible drama, which keeps the viewer in suspense from the first minutes before the end of the film. It is better not to look sick of this detective thriller Deni Villeneuve, although it was played by prominent Hollywood actors. So, what is the drama of the film "Captives"?

Short story

The picture was filmed in Atlanta, although the film takes place in a small town in Pennsylvania. Two families make arrangements to meet the Thanksgiving Day together. However, girls Joy and Anna decide to walk without the demand of their parents and soon disappear.

Excited by this event, the fathers - Keller Dover and Franklin Birch - quickly reach the track of the alleged kidnapper. However, Alex Jones turns out to be mentally insane, moreover - he is released, as there is no direct evidence of Jones's guilt.

Dover repeatedly tries to talk to the alleged kidnapper, begging to reveal the location of the girls. However, the result can not be achieved. Then the desperate father kidnaps Alex and turns himself into a monster, torturing a sick person in an abandoned mansion.

In the finale it turns out that Keller from the very beginning was not following that trail. The ending of the film turns out to be quite unpredictable, and even a little unfinished.

The film "Captives": actors and roles. Hugh Jackman as Keller

Hugh Jackman, one of Hollywood's most highly paid actors , was known for many years, thanks only to the X-Men franchise. However, the last five to seven years, the artist tries to establish himself as a versatile performer, agreeing to bold experiments.

First he played Jean Valjean in the musical Les Miserables. For the sake of this role, he had to learn how to sing. Then Jackman received the role of Blackbeard in the fairy tale "Peng: Journey to Netlandia". A peculiar experiment was shooting in the drama "Captive".

Actors Hugh Jackman and Terrence Howard in this film appeared in the image of the fathers of abducted girls. Jackman had to grow a beard and get a shabby look to go for a provincial family man who earns bread by hard work. When Keller's daughter Dover disappears without a trace, unlike Franklin Birch, he behaves decisively and even desperately. Dover is ready to torture a distraught person just to find his child. In the end, truth is revealed to Dover, but because of his imprudence, he himself becomes a victim of the kidnapper.

"Captives": actors and roles. Terrence Howard as Franklin

Terrence Howard is a little-known American actor, who is mostly filmed in "B" class films or in television series. But back in the early 2000's everything was completely different. In 1999, Howard became famous, thanks to the romantic comedy "Shafer". For work in the drama "Vanity and movement", the actor was nominated for the "Vanity and Motion" award.

In 2008, the actor played the role of Colonel James Rhodes in the first part of the franchise "Iron Man". However, the glory did not go to Terrence: in Hollywood he became known as an actor, with whom there are too many problems. As a result, serious directors stopped cooperating with him, and Howard himself moved from the big screens to television soap operas like "Empire".

In the film "Captives" actors Howard and Jackman played friends who faced the same grief - they lost their daughters. However, the hero Howard in this situation chose to sit out at home until the perpetrator walks with impunity through the streets of the city. Keller must literally force Franklin to dig up to the truth and seek with him a true kidnapper.

Jake Gyllenhaal as a detective

Jake Gyllenhaal played a detective in the thriller "Captives". Actors, as you can see, were well known in the film.

Detective Loki shares the grief of fathers and tries to find little girls, but he does not welcome arbitrariness and wants everything to be according to the law. That's why a wall of alienation arises between him and Keller, because the hero of Hugh Jackman believes that Loki does not catch a criminal at all. In the end, it's the detective Loki who saves little Anna and kills the kidnapper in a shootout. And it is from Loki in the final picture depends on the fate of Keller Dover.

Jake Gyllenhaal started acting in films at the age of 11, but only in 2001 he felt a taste of glory when the mystical thriller Donnie Darko appeared on the screen. Then the actor strengthened his position in Hollywood, playing a cowboy-gay in "Brokeback Mountain" along with Heath Ledger. And, of course, the work of Gyllenhaul in the thriller Prince of Persia, after which the artist was recognized as a new sex symbol, did not remain without critics' attention.

Other performers of roles

Who else from the artists honored with their presence the film "Captive"? Actors Paul Dano ("Taking lives") and Melissa Leo ("The Fall of Olympus") played a nephew and aunt - psychopaths, who, in fact, organized kidnappings.

Also in the frame appeared Viola Davis ("Doubt"), Maria Bello ("Twin Towers") and Dylan Minnett ("Agents Shch. I. T.").
