Life before the war

Dundee Angelo was born on August 30, 1921 in Florida. His real name is Angelo Mirena. Following the example of his older brother, he took the name Dundee in honor of the famous Italian boxer.

During the Second World War, Dundee Angelo served in the army, where he realized so strong a love of boxing. He often took part in competitions, but not as a fighter, but as a second. An interesting fact is that the boxer himself did not take part in these battles. The exception was only a couple of fights during the service.

Life after the army

After Dundee Angelo finished his military service, he, like his brother, moved to New York. At that time, Chris Dundee has already achieved good results - he became a strong and experienced manager in the boxing field. Working together, the guys have achieved incredible results. And soon all doors of boxing business were opened for them.

Excellent results at world championships

During his coaching activities, Dundee gradually began to acquire promising students. One of his first famous students was Bill Bosio. And after a while Carmen Brasilio appeared, repeatedly becoming the world champion under the direction of Angelo Dundee. The coach brought up his pupil qualitatively and helped him to become the world champion not only in welterweight, but also on average.

For his entire coaching career, Dundee Angelo has trained fifteen students who have become world champions. The coach is famous all over the world. In 1994, he was included in the list of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

And even at the age of ninety, not being a coach, he still continued to advise young boxers and received a real pleasure from it.

Death of the famous coach

In 2010, the trainer's wife, Helen, died, and he decided to move closer to his children.

February 1, 2012 at the age of ninety-eight died the famous for the whole mime trainer Angelo Dundee. He died on Thursday night at his home in Tampa, Florida.

Dundee died in the midst of his friends and relatives. He was very happy that he had the opportunity, together with Mohammed Ali, to celebrate his birthday on January 17. But a few days after this event was hospitalized in the hospital due to the formation of a thrombus. After carrying out the necessary medical measures, he was sent home. However, at home his condition worsened, as there were problems with breathing.

Until his last breath, the coach brought up young boxers and received a real pleasure from it, because boxing was the meaning of his life. Dundee worked as a coach for sixty years.

Angelo Dundee, whose funeral was organized in Florida, was very happy that he chose a profession by vocation and was able to raise a huge number of strong personalities.

At the funeral came about six hundred people, including Mohammed Ali and other famous boxers. According to the coach's son, his father was a simple and unique person. He treated equally well for everyone, and at the same time everyone felt his care and understanding. During his life his father did everything he wanted, so he was not afraid for him at all.
