The wreck of the heavens: an air crash

Incident, disaster, tragedy ... In the modern world of comfort and new technologies, these words are by no means a rarity. Mankind has long conquered the earth, water, sky and space, but it can not escape unforeseen circumstances. And such incidents rarely do without victims, especially when it comes to such a thing as an airplane crash.

Aircraft accidents are ...

The events that led to the death of people that were on board the aircraft, called an air accident, a catastrophe or a tragedy. Sometimes under an aviation accident, one or more persons may be lost, as well as the disappearance of an aircraft from radar, without further communication. The air catastrophe can also be marked by the death of people during an emergency landing.

Historical background

For the first time, air catastrophes began to be discussed immediately, as the era of aeronautics began - in the 19th century. Initially, the number of accidents and casualties was relatively small, but only until the aircraft became part of mass consumption. Not only the air transportation system developed, but also the safety standards were improved. But only the victims were anyway.

In 1940, when the mass air traffic became popular, the number of victims also increased. In the mid-fifties, aircraft were improved and safety standards were raised, so the number of accidents was reduced, but only until the expansion of aircraft to the countries of the third world began. Only after a decade new devices appeared on the market that could provide a safe flight to any country.

The next wave of aviation disasters covered the world in the 1970s. Then the demand for international flights increased, on the sides increased the number of seats, and the world first learned what terrorism is. Security standards were revised again, on-board equipment improved, the number of casualties fell by half in the mid-1980s.

The following 15 years, the number of air disasters increased again, as wide-body airplanes were widely distributed.

According to statistics, the aviation disaster is an event that can not be foreseen, but you can do everything possible to prevent it. As the 60-year practice shows, the number of incidents has decreased from 616 accidents per year to 28.

The most terrible catastrophes

But no matter how much mankind tries to protect its movements, the tragedy always comes suddenly, and the biggest air disasters are the best proof:

  • Japan. 1985 year. Flight # 123 made a domestic flight from Tokyo to Osaka. After take-off the system got out of control, the plane fell on the mountain slopes. As a result of the tragedy, 520 people became victims.
  • India. In the air, two airliners collided - Boeing 747 and Il-76. As a result, "Il" lost control, and "Boeing" crumbled in the air, killing 349 people.
  • France. In 1974, there was the most terrible accident in the history of the country. Flight No. 981 of Turkish Airlines held the course Istanbul-Paris-London. After the plane started from the Paris airport, a cargo hatch opened. As a result, all control systems were damaged, and after 72 seconds the plane fell, 346 people were victims of the accident.
  • Saudi Arabia. On board the aircraft, which started from the airport of Riyadh, the luggage compartment caught fire. The device was forced to return, but, having landed, the plane continued its movement, leaving the firemen behind. On board there were 301 people, all burned alive.
  • Spain. One of the most horrific disasters in human history occurred in the Spanish island province of Tenerife. In 1977, during takeoff, two large liners collided, resulting in the death of nearly 600 people. This catastrophe can be considered not only the most terrible, but the most unexpected and ridiculous.

Aircraft accidents in Russia

World history has hundreds of accidents. Russia did not stand aside either. The list of aviation accidents, which attracted the attention of the public most of all, is as follows:

  • year 2001. Tu-154 crashed in Irkutsk during the landing. As a result, 145 people died.
  • 2004 year. Almost simultaneously, two passenger liners were blown up by suicide bombers. In the tragedy, 90 people were killed.
  • 2006 year. The crew of the A-320 aircraft did not manage to manage. Due to difficult weather conditions, the pilots lost the orientation of the terrain, and the plane fell into the Black Sea. All the people who were on board (113 people) were killed.
  • 2015 year. Of the radars, almost immediately after take-off, the flight disappeared, which was heading at the Sharm-el-Sheikh-St. Petersburg route. Subsequently, only fragments in the suburb of Nechel were found. As a result of the incident, 224 people died tragically. The youngest passenger was a 10-month-old girl - Dasha Gromova, her photo became a symbol of tragedy. Among all the crashes that are known to mankind, this incident killed the most Russian citizens.

Daily in the celestial streams runs about 138 thousand aircraft. No airline gives 100% guarantee, nevertheless air travel is considered the safest. The crash of heaven - aviation accidents - can happen at any time, but still it happens 10 times less often than an accident.
