The tree is an amazing treasure, given to man by nature

A tree is an amazing miracle of nature. If this plant did not appear, then our world would never become the way we used to see it. And life itself as such would not exist, because it is the trees that produce oxygen, so necessary for the development of most organisms.

But how much does a person know about a tree? How well did he learn its components, species and ways of reproduction? Do you know why many trees fall their leaves in autumn? And what even today introduces scientists into bewilderment?

What is a tree?

The answer to this question should be known even by first-graders, because this is material from the primary school program. A tree is a kind of perennial plants, the distinctive feature of which is the presence of a stiffened trunk. At the same time over the years it only increases in size, and does not die at the end of each season.

Grow trees almost everywhere, except for Antarctica and some desert areas. What is true, even in the hottest corners of the Earth, covered with hot, lifeless sand, you can find secluded oases with lushly growing palms and laurels.

Types of trees

In general, this type of plant is divided into two large species: conifers and broad-leaved.

As you can guess from the name, a conifer is what has needles and flakes in place of leaves. Bright examples of such crops are spruce, pine, cypress and fir. Most of the coniferous trees are evergreen.

Broad-leaved, on the contrary, on the ends of the branches have thin leaves. In this case, their shape, depending on the particular tree species, is highly modified. In most cases, only one of their appearance can be used to determine exactly which plant they belong to.

Also, the person selected those trees in separate classes that are able to bring him special benefits. For example, there are fruit-bearing plants that are cultivated in gardens to harvest crops from them. Also there are valuable breeds, whose wood is intended for the construction of houses, shelters, ferries and even ships.

The structure of the tree

A tree is a very complex mechanism. Even today, scientists can not understand some of the processes going on inside its cells. In particular, they are particularly interested in photosynthesis, due to which carbon dioxide is processed into oxygen. It is such a complex chemical process that even if you understand its nature, chemists still can not reproduce it in the laboratory.

If we talk about the overall structure of the tree, then everything is much simpler. It consists of four main parts: roots, trunk, branches and leaves. At the same time, each of these components performs its own, unique and irreplaceable function.

What do trees do in autumn and winter?

As stated earlier, some trees remain green for a year, while others discard leaves with the arrival of the first colds. Especially inquisitive minds asked the question: "Why are they doing this?"

Firstly, it is a self-preservation mechanism developed over many years of evolution. The fact is that the trees in winter, because of frost, become very fragile. Especially it concerns small twigs, which have not yet had time to get stronger. If the leaves do not fall off, then snow will settle on them, thereby increasing their weight. Ultimately, this will cause the branches to begin to buckle and break.

Another reason for the fall of the foliage is the slowdown of all life processes in the trunk of the tree. It seems to fall into a hibernation, which lasts until the very spring. However, scientists still do not know for sure when it was deciduous species that began to behave this way. As for their coniferous "brethren", they have a similar mechanism of sleep almost completely absent.

The tree is the true treasure of the planet

In conclusion, I want to note that the trees are the lungs of the planet. If they do not, then humanity, most likely, will die with them. That is why it is so important that everyone remembers their role in our lives.

It should be noted that at the moment the number of all trees on the planet exceeds the 3 trillion mark. And every year due to cutting down and expansion of urban areas this figure is reduced by 15 billion. Such a tendency, alas, can lead to nothing good. And therefore we will hope that in the future man will still learn to use the resources of the planet more rationally.
