This was the main incentive to create a professional type of instrumentation. This species is represented on the market in two varieties:

1. Geodetic receivers. They have in their composition a special antenna and a controller, which introduces errors into the measurements, thus achieving the most accurate result.
2. GIS-class devices. They represent an industrial version of a pocket personal computer, in which a transmitter, specially a software and a receiver are built-in. This significantly reduces the error in determining the coordinates.

Now, due to the development of technology, it is impossible to draw a clear line between two types of devices - both equipment can replace each other under different circumstances.

An ordinary person resorts to a similar kind of device in two cases: to determine their location and not get lost, to track an object or subject for protection. Depending on the task, the personal satellite receiver can be portable. In this case, it is a small compact device. In addition, the receiver can be embedded in some other technique, such as a laptop or phone.
