The Place of Russia in the World Economy

Any existing state contributes to the world economy, which in turn provides opportunities for economic development and improving the welfare of the population. The goal of developing foreign economic relations of the Russian Federation is its equal integration into economic relations of an international character in order to take advantage of the benefits of the international division of labor. Russia's place in the world economy does not correspond to the long-term interests of the economy and its potential opportunities. It is necessary to develop a mechanism to support national producers, to reduce the dependence of the Russian Federation on food imports and the export of raw materials.

At the end of the 20th century, Russia's place in the world economy was 10 in the world in terms of total GDP, and it lagged about 10 times from the United States. In 1999, the RF, in terms of per capita GDP, lagged behind the US by 5.5 times.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, the economic situation in terms of GDP has changed in favor of the Russian Federation. In 2006, Russia's GDP was about 1160.5 billion dollars, and in the US - 10,800 billion dollars, or about 11% of the US level. There is a tendency to strengthen the position in the world economy. At present, we occupy the sixth place in the world in terms of industrial production, which is slightly more than 20% of the US level.

Russia is an exporter of oil and natural gas and, in connection with this, Russia's place in the world economy is quite high. A number of countries are trying to reduce energy dependence on the Russian Federation and import oil and natural gas from other countries.

The result of Russia's accession to the WTO should be its full participation in the world trade system, achieving the greatest advantages in the international division of labor, improving economic cooperation with foreign states.

The place of Russia in the world economy is also determined by the export of labor to the economic world community. All citizens of Russia have the legal right to travel for employment abroad. Positive moments of labor export are: reduction of unemployment, increase of cultural and professional level, financial income from persons who have left abroad.

The Russian government has concluded a number of intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements with Poland, Germany, Finland, Switzerland, China, Slovakia and the CIS to regulate labor migration abroad. The main countries in which the citizens of the Russian Federation are migrating: Poland, Germany, England, the United States, and others.

Practically every agreement contains quotas, according to which these states can work annually not more than 4 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation.

High competition from labor-exporting countries makes it difficult for Russia to enter the international labor market. In addition to the quota policy, foreign countries put other barriers to the labor of other countries. However, despite the existing difficulties in mastering the international market, the Russian Federation should apply maximum efforts to master it. For effective and planned development, a unified state concept on the export of labor is needed. The entrance of the RF into the international market is complicated by unfavorable conjuncture.

At the present time, globalization of the world economy is taking place. In this process, all countries are involved to one degree or another.

Modern trends in the development of the world economy.

The modern world seeks to synthesize a new model of development, which is characterized, in addition to qualitative updates of the technological base of production, the wide introduction of resources and energy-saving technologies, major shifts in the content, structure and nature of the processes in production and consumption. The world community gradually overcomes the bipolar model of international relations.
