Onions belong to a group of spicy vegetables. This useful plant was already known in the 2-3 millennium BC. E. Cultivated it in large areas in the Nile Valley in Ancient Egypt. On the territory of Kievan Rus bow appeared only in the 10th century. Slavs considered this product an effective tool in the fight against many ailments, so they actively used it for therapeutic purposes.

The multi-tiered onion begins to germinate from under the snow, because its leaves are not afraid of weak frosts. It is expedient to plant this kind of onions in regions with a rather harsh climate. This plant has a very attractive and unusual appearance: its feathers grow in several rows, creating a multi-level tiers, so people can still call it "horned bow". Due to its bactericidal properties and concentration of vitamins, the multi-tiered variety considerably exceeds all other types of onions.

Stitch-bow regularly throws out new leaves that germinate much earlier than other varieties, but have the property of being rude, so they need to be removed to grow young. This kind of onions can withstand the strongest frost, so it is often grown in the North Caucasus. It is less burning than onions, and is often used as a seasoning, and is also used to decorate many dishes.

At the end of April, the onion-slime grows, which, when cutting off stalks, gives off a lot of mucus - hence this unusual name. It has a weak taste and a delicate garlic smell. This onion contains a large number of iron salts, so it is useful to eat for people suffering from anemia. Such kinds of onions as a bow-trampoline and leeks have a very delicate taste, which distinguishes them from the bulb - the most common variety of this plant. Eat both bulbs and leaves that contain the same amount of vitamins and minerals.

Adapted to our area and shallots, but still very few people are engaged in its cultivation. To obtain a lush bush of greenery, it is sufficient to plant one bulb of this variety into the ground. In its composition Shalot has similarities with onions, but differs from it with the presence of ascorbic acid and a large number of phytoncides that exert a curative effect on the body.

Interesting and such an unusual form, as a birdwort, better known as Mongolian onions, Indian onions, Chinese onions or infernal root. This perennial bulbous plant, which has healing properties and, moreover, beautiful flowering. It can often be seen on private plots, and even on the windowsills of apartments. Its leaves and juice are used for diseases of the joints, as well as for the common cold, cough and as a bactericidal wound-healing agent. Often, doctors prescribe Indian onions in the treatment of cancer.

All types of onions are very useful for human health, because they contain not only vitamins, but also phytoncides - substances that have antimicrobial effect. Therefore, during the exacerbation of viral-colds, many people add fresh onions to their food. In addition, the onion favorably affects the activity of the gastrointestinal tract, reliably protects a person from flu, colds, strengthens immunity.
