The heel hurts: than to treat at home?

Why do the heels hurt, how to treat them at home - these questions can only be answered after the correct diagnosis has been made. If there are no visible lesions (punctures, cuts), and the feeling of discomfort and pain increases daily, most likely, you have heel spurs - bone growth in the heel area. It is impossible to see it by yourself. That is why it is possible to detect this modification only with the help of an X-ray.

The main causes of calcaneal spurs

There are several reasons for the growth of bone in the heel:

  1. Flat feet, incorrect distribution of weight and load on the foot.
  2. Excess weight, employment by power kinds of sports with lifting of the big weight.
  3. Violation of metabolic processes, blood flow.
  4. Irritation of the feet with close shoes.
  5. Infectious inflammation, chronic or transferred diseases

Symptoms of the calcaneal spur and the causes of pain

As already mentioned, the main symptom of the spur is acute pain. It manifests itself only during the load on the foot, for example, in a standing position, with the feeling that the skin and muscles are damaged by a nail or needle. The most severe pain is felt in the morning (at the first load) and in the evening (after a constant walk). During the day, pain can both disappear and periodically appear. Their main cause is an inflammation of the plantar aponeurosis by irritation with its sharp spur. That's why the heel hurts.

Spur: how to treat the disease with the help of folk remedies

Treatment spurs at the initial stages with the use of folk recipes allows you to stop its further proliferation, relieve inflammation and pain. At the beginning of treatment it is important to recognize this disease without having mixed it with a plantar wart. So, you are determined with the diagnosis: you have a spur. The heel pains unbearably and aching. Than to treat and what methods to give preference: warming up, kompressvm, self-massage?

The first method of treatment: warming up

Warmings relieve internal inflammation and swelling caused by constant irritation of the bone, reduce pain.

  1. Dissolve the food salt (1 kg) in 5 liters of hot water, bring to a boil, completely dissolve the salt. Soak your feet in water (tolerable for the procedure) for 10 days. The course must pass completely, and not stop after the first signs of relief, which will come after the 4-5-th procedure.
  2. Quite effective treatment with the use of whey.
  3. For heating, alcohol or moonshine is often used. Alcohol is heated in a frying pan (avoid igniting it), legs fall into it. After the procedure, do not wipe your feet. A more economical way is to use moonshine. It is not necessary to lower your feet into the liquid itself, it is enough to set fire and warm your feet over the flame.

The second method of treatment: compresses

If the heel hurts, than treat it at home, so that the pain subsides quickly and there are no side effects? The best option is compresses. They are of two types: night and round the clock. This procedure warms up well, relieves pain and inflammation, prevents further outgrowth of bone tissue.

  1. For compresses, garlic is often used: peel and chop the garlic head. Kashitsu put on the heel and wrap the package, then put on a warm sock. To avoid burning, you can rub your skin with oil or add it to garlic. Also effective is a mixture of garlic with chalk (1: 1). These compresses refer to the night, but it is better to do them in the evening for 3-4 hours.
  2. Still our great-grandfathers knew what to do if the heel hurts, rather than treat acute pain: tar is one of the oldest and most reliable methods. He is smeared on a gray bread grinder and fastened to the heel at night. Do not remove for 5-7 hours, and the course itself - at least 3 procedures.
  3. No less effective and onions. For example, onion gruel, superimposed on the heel and wrapped in a package and a warm cloth, is able to help as early as 3-4 times. Strengthens the healing properties of the onion tar: pour a few drops of tar on the cut half of the root crop and tie it to the heel. Already after 3-4 procedures the pain will decrease, the inflammation will pass.

Therapeutic massages

If the compresses and warming have not helped, and the heel still hurts, what else to treat? In this case self-massage with the help of improvised means can help. For example, salt, heated and sprinkled on a flat surface, not only calms the pain, but also prevents further spur outgrowth. It is enough to "walk" on it a sick fifth every day. The old washing board will also help. If you "wash" heels twice a day for at least 15 minutes, the spurs will disappear after a few weeks. You can also massage the feet with a corn cob, an aspen log or potatoes.
