Recently, the third motion picture of the updated X-Men series from Marvel was released: "X-Men: Apocalypse." Actors of the project basically were involved the same as in the last two scenes, however, there were some newcomers.

"The X-Men: The Apocalypse"

More than a decade ago, the first films about the adventures of people with the X gene were shot. Later, a separate film was filmed, dedicated to Wolverine - one of the main characters of the epic.

Seeing that the audience's interest in this project does not stop, the company Marvel decided to continue to shoot films about mutants. So there was a film X-Men: First Class, from which gradually began to replace the cast. In the next film of the epic, thanks to a journey into the past of one of the heroes, it was possible to justify its restart.

At the moment, the most recent in this series is the film "The X-Men: The Apocalypse" (2016). Actors, in this project, almost completely replaced all those who played the role of mutants and their enemies, earlier.

According to the plot, Professor X again opened his school, where new students appeared. Agent Moira McTaggert, during the next investigation, becomes a witness of the resurrection of the ancient mutant of the Apocalypse, who dreams of subjugating the world. To implement his plans, he strengthens the abilities of weaker mutants. So he subjugates Magneto, grieving because his wife and daughter were killed, despite the fact that he was trying to help people. Next on the path of the Apocalypse was Professor X. Taking it with him, the ancient mutant wants to take hold of Charles's gift. In the meantime, the students of Xavier's school are attacked by Colonel Stryker. However, Gene, Kurt and Scott, hiding in a helicopter, penetrate the Stryker military base and save their friends. Together, under the leadership of the Mystic and the Beast, they find the Apocalypse and after a difficult battle they destroy the enemy and save the planet.

Charles Xavier (Professor X), performed by James McAvoy

Among those who played the main characters in the movie "The X-Men: Apocalypse" - actors (photo below), which have long been famous. And also those who have not yet managed to achieve great success in their careers.

The role of Professor X, previously performed by Patrick Stewart, went to the famous Scotsman James McEvoy ("Especially dangerous", "Jane Austen", "Atonement", "Conspirator" and "Victor Frankenstein"). For him, this is the third motion picture, in which he plays the role of Charles Xavier. It is noteworthy that the hero of McEvoy in this part of the epic epic finally lost his hair and resembled the canonical image of Professor Xavier.

Magneto performed by Michael Fassbender

It's sad, but in recent years, McAvoy has done nothing to participate in the epic "X-Men", but the career of the performer of the role of the villain Magneto - Michael Fassender - is on the rise.

Starting with small roles in the television series, this artist soon won the glory of a universal actor, able to fulfill any role.

In addition to the numerous cinematographic awards that he received, this actor was twice nominated for an Oscar and three times for a Golden Globe.

His most famous works are the films "Jane Eyre", "Hunger", "Shame", "12 years of slavery", "Strictly to the West", "Macbeth" and "Steve Jobs."

For Fassbender, the third painting in which he plays Eric Lenscher is "X-Men: Apocalypse." Actors and roles often have a lot in common. This statement is not very true in this case. So, Magneto is a German Jew, and Michael Fassbender is a German Irishman. Otherwise, the features of the actor and his characters are different.

If you compare Fassbender with the previous performer of the role of Magneto, Ian McKellen, you can see that they have completely different characters. The hero in Michael's performance is much more charming, but at the same time more tragic. Many spectators note that in the last movie Eric was made excessively soft and weak-willed, compared to the previous two paintings.

Mystic performed by Jennifer Schrader Lawrence

In the re-launch of the franchise, not only Magneto was rehabilitated, but his faithful assistant Mystic was rehabilitated. In all three films, this role was performed by Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence.

After the success of the film "X-Men: Apocalypse" the actors involved in the project signed a contract with Marvel to participate in other parts of the epic. However, Lawrence has not done so yet. Moreover, in one of the interviews the actress stated that she did not plan to return to the role of Mystic. The fans can only hope that in the future it will change its decision.

Nicholas Holt as Hank McCoy

Together with Jennifer Lawrence in all three of the last paintings of the epic filmed and Briton Nicholas Holt. His hero is the brilliant scientist Hank McCoy, who turns into a mighty beast with blue wool. This character played an important role in the victory over the main villain in the film "X-Men: The Apocalypse."

Actors and roles (photo below) are often very intertwined. So, according to the plot, there were romantic feelings between the Beast and the Mystic, but due to circumstances they did not manage to build a full-fledged relationship. In reality, the performers of these roles, Jennifer and Nicholas, also fell in love. Their romance lasted almost 2 years, however, due to constant travel, the actors dispersed.

If Lawrence was already famous to the role of the Mystic, then Holt - no. Despite the fact that he previously starred in many television series and several films, the popularity came to him after the role of Hank McCoy.

Since then, he was invited to the main roles in the box office projects. He played in the tapes "Heat of our bodies", "Jack - the conqueror of giants", "Autobahn" and the recently published picture "Equal."

In numerous interviews, the actor stressed that he plans to return to the role of the Beast in the future.

Apocalypse - actor Oscar Isaac

The main villain in this film is one of the oldest mutants in history - the Apocalypse (En Sabah Nur). This anti-hero was played by an American actor of Guatemalan origin Oscar Isaac.

Prior to participating in the X-Men epic, he starred in many films (Robin Hood, We, Believe in Love, Inside Lewin Davis), but he came to prominence only recently.

An interesting fact: En Sabah Nura first appears in the Marvel universe after the final titles X-Men: Days of Future Past. True, in that movie he was played by Brendan Pedder.

A character named Mercury

As you know, in the carousel Marvel, to which the epic "X-Men" belongs, all the characters and stories are connected. However, recently with this there was an overlay. The point is in the character named Mercury (Peter Maximoff).

In the epic "Avengers", the second picture of which recently came out, there are twins Peter (Pietro) and Vanda Maximoff, known as Mercury and the Scarlet Witch. Their abilities are presented as the result of irradiation. According to Marvel comics, these heroes are mutants who inherited superpowers from their parents (by the way, their father is Magneto). But in the "Avengers" nothing is said about this, moreover, at the end of the film Pietro perishes.

Much more space in the story is given to this hero in the film "X-Men: Apocalypse." The actors, Mercury playing in these projects, are different. In "Avengers" - this is Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and in X-Men - Evan Peters. It's interesting that they both starred in a movie-a parody of superhero films "Pipets."

Sophie Turner's debut as Phoenix (Gene Gray)

Among the performers of the main characters in the film "X-Men: Apocalypse" - the actors who first appeared in this project. Among them - Sophie Turner, known to the viewers role Sansa Stark in the cult television series Game of Thrones.

In the epic X-Men, Sophie won the role of the young Phoenix (Gene Gray-Summers) - the beloved Wolverine and Scott Summers, as well as the best student of Professor X. Earlier this character was played by Famke Janssen.

But Lucas Till (Havok), Rose Byrne (agent Moira McTaggert) and Josh Helman (Colonel Stryker) again returned to the roles that they performed earlier.

A pleasant surprise for the audience was the unexpected appearance of Wolverine - Hugh Jackman. And although his character does not play an important role in the plot of this picture, perhaps his participation will play the role of advertising for the future film Wolverine 3: Old Man Logan.
