The medicine "Sirdalud" is included in the pharmacological group of drugs that affect the neuromuscular transmission. The active ingredient is tizanidine hydrochloride.

The active substance mainly affects the alpha-2 receptors (presynaptic). By stimulating them, it inhibits the release of amino acids that excite NMDA receptors (this mechanism is responsible for excessive excess tone).

The drug is prescribed for spasticity of skeletal muscle in the background of neurological diseases (with multiple sclerosis, degenerative diseases of the spinal cord, chronic myelopathy). Indications include also muscle spasms in disorders of cerebral blood supply and in cerebral palsy (in patients after eighteen years of age).

The drug "Sirdalud" (doctors' reviews are unequivocal in this) are not prescribed for severe disorders of liver function, hypersensitivity. Contraindicated with the simultaneous use of medication with such drugs as "Ciprofloxacin", "Fluvoxamine."

Patients over 65 years of age, patients with disorders of renal activity, as well as with violations of moderate functions of the liver function, are prescribed with caution.
