The drug "Nurofen" (tablets) is included in the category of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), derivatives of phenylpropionic acid. It has antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. The mechanism of action of the drug is based on inhibition of the synthesis of prostaglandins by blocking cyclooxygenase.

In order to achieve a more rapid effect of taking Nurofen, the instruction allows the dosage to be increased to 400 mg three times a day. The instruction for children of the drug "Nurofen" is allowed if the patient's body weight exceeds twenty kilograms. Break between meals - not less than six hours. Children from six to twelve are prescribed 200 mg per day, no more than four times a day.

Effervescent tablets before use dissolve in water (in a glass), coated tablets - drink down a sufficient volume of liquid.

The use of "Nurofen" for two to three days practically does not cause side effects. With prolonged use of the drug, the following reactions may occur: vomiting, anorexia, heartburn, flatulence, gastrointestinal lesions of erosive ulcerous nature (with complication of bleeding and perforation in some cases), diarrhea, dryness, tenderness of the oral mucosa, epigastric discomfort, constipation, aphthous stomatitis , Pancreatitis.

Possible dizziness, insomnia, depression, hallucinations, confusion, noise in the ears. In rare cases, aseptic meningitis may develop.

The use of the drug may cause irritation and dryness in the eyes, eyelid edema and conjunctiva, increased blood pressure, the development of heart failure, tachycardia, anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, cystitis, allergic nephritis, acute renal failure. Probably also the appearance of dyspnea, bronchospasm.

Contraindicated medication for heart failure, aspirin triad, severe arterial hypertension, hypersensitivity to NSAIDs, including acetylsalicylic acid.

Nurofen is not prescribed for renal and hepatic disorders, hemophilia, optic nerve diseases, hearing loss, individual intolerance to ibuprofen, in children (up to six years), with lactation.

The use of the drug in the period of gestation by some specialists is approved, while others are categorically against it. In some cases, the use of tablets is permissible in the first and second trimesters. At the same time, the drug can have a negative impact on the development of the reproductive organs in the child. In case of an overdose, abdominal pain, drowsiness, retardation, depression, tinnitus, vomiting, coma, lowering blood pressure, stopping breathing, atrial fibrillation are noted.
