The drug "Nizoral" belongs to the group of antifungal agents. The international name of the drug is ketoconazole.

Means "Nizoral", the instruction to which acquaints us with this preparation, is issued in the form of flat round tablets having on one side the inscription "To 200", and on the other - "Janssen". The dosage form is white.

The drug "Nizoral", whose composition is described in the instructions, as the main component includes ketoconazole. In one tablet, its content is two hundred milligrams. Excipients are the following: corn starch and lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose and polyvidon K 90, as well as magnesium stearate and colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide.

The drug "Nizoral", the instruction to which explains the mechanism of its effect on pathogenic fungi, has a fungistatic and fungicidal effect. After ketoconazole enters the body, the process of biosynthesis of ergosterol fungi decreases, which causes changes in the composition of the remaining lipids in their membranes. In the treatment of meningitis of the fungal nature, the administration of the oral form of the preparation is not carried out, since the entry of the main active substance in this case into the central nervous system is very insignificant.

The drug "Nizoral", the instruction to which describes the main field of application, is prescribed with the following ailments:

  • Infectious lesions of the skin of nails and hair, caused by yeast or dermatophytes;
  • Candidiasis of mucous membranes and skin, which are chronic;
  • Infectious diseases of the stomach and intestines, caused by yeast;
  • Vaginal candidiasis, which are chronic and complicated by relapses;
  • Systemic fungal infections of an infectious nature;
  • Also in order to take preventive measures aimed at strengthening the protective functions of the body, reducing the likelihood of fungal infection.

The drug "Nizoral", the instruction to which recommends ways of using it, is taken during a meal for its optimal absorption into the bloodstream system. The length of the course of treatment depends on the nature of the disease and is prescribed by a specialist.

When taking the drug, side effects are possible. The most common occurrence of dyspepsia and nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. In rare cases, menstrual cycle and dizziness are possible. There is also the possibility of paresthesia and increased liver enzymes. There may be symptoms of an allergic reaction and a headache. In very rare cases, there is a possibility of thrombocytopenia, allopecia, as well as impotence and increased intracranial pressure. During the course of treatment with the drug, hepatitis rarely develops, which occurs when the drug is discontinued.

Contraindicated in the use of medication with individual sensitivity to its constituent elements, and it is not prescribed for persons suffering from liver diseases in acute and chronic form. With extreme caution, taking the drug is indicated for patients who are addicted to alcohol. Simultaneous reception of the drug with alcohol causes a reaction of the body, characterized by swelling and rash, nausea and headache, as well as redness of the skin.

In pharmacies you can buy a shampoo, which is sometimes called "Nizoral" -spray. It helps in the treatment of dandruff, pityriasis and seborrheic dermatitis. Shampoo is applied to lesions for five minutes, and then the skin is washed with water.

In the treatment of various fungal diseases, the use of "Nizoral" cream is recommended. It is applied directly to the affected area. The duration of treatment is determined depending on the severity of the pathology.
