With atherosclerosis, such substances can reduce the concentration of cholesterol and slow the coagulation of the blood.

In the presence of syphilitic gum, iodine, accumulating in them, softens them and dissolves. But in the tuberculosis foci from its effect, the inflammatory process only intensifies.

In small doses, iodine stimulates lactation, while in massive doses it depresses.

Indication for the use of the drug "Lugolya solution" instruction for its use leads to the following. External application: trauma, myalgia, wounds, infectious and inflammatory skin diseases. Topical application: chronic tonsillitis, purulent otitis, atrophic rhinitis, varicose and trophic ulcers, infected burns, wounds, fresh chemical and thermal burns of the first and second degrees. Internal reception: with tertiary syphilis, as well as with the purpose of prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis.

In case of internal reception, skin allergic manifestations, nervousness, tachycardia, increased sweating, sleep disorders, diarrhea (in persons over forty years old) may occur.
