The dirtyest cities in Russia: rating

Today the whole world is concerned about the deterioration of the ecological situation, making regular attempts to keep the situation and to prevent new natural disasters, although this is not always possible. Environmentalists are sounding the alarm, fearing for the safety of our forests, lakes, rivers, flora and fauna.

Unfortunately, most of the cities of the world, recognized as ecologically unfavorable, are the Russian megacities.

The main polluting criteria are harmful emissions of industrial facilities, coal mining enterprises and, naturally, toxic exhaust gases of modern cars.

Undoubtedly, experts, appealing with Rosstat's information, regularly prepare reports, in which the most dirty cities of Russia are named for a certain period of time. And, for the sake of justice, it should be noted that some of them maintain a stable dynamics of stability, that is, the situation has not changed for the better for many years.

According to experts, the dirtiest cities in Russia - this is certainly Moscow and St. Petersburg, although they do not occupy the top line of the rating. Also in the list of ecologically unfavorable included Volgograd, Tomsk, Nizhny Novgorod.

The dirtyest cities in Russia are also settlements, where oil refining, chemical, metallurgical industries are developed. First of all, Cherepovets, Lipetsk, Asbestos, Magnitogorsk, Omsk and Angarsk are among them. In all the above-mentioned geographical points, experts noted an increased concentration of harmful impurities in the atmosphere, which leads to air pollution.

Nothing to breathe in Norilsk

Certainly, a person who breathes a hideous air can not boast of good health, and his life expectancy, naturally, is declining.

The dirty city of Russia in 2014 is Norilsk, where only 201 thousand people live. In this geographical point of our country, the well-known city-forming structure, the Norilsk Nickel, works.

It is thanks to this that this locality is the central link for the extraction of copper, cobalt, nickel, palladium, cobalt, gold, platinum and other metals. The company supplies 35% of palladium, 25% of platinum, 20% of nickel and 10% of cobalt to the world market. Among other things, Norilsk Nickel produces selenium, sulfuric acid, tellurium and industrial sulfur. Naturally, Norilsk can not but lead the list of the dirtyest cities in Russia. Only in this city almost half of the elements included in Mendeleyev's table come from the bowels of the earth.

On the verge of an environmental disaster

Ecologists are sure that if the situation does not change for the better, then Norilsk is facing a real ecological catastrophe. The facts speak for themselves. The share of carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere here is 2% of the world. And all this takes place against the backdrop of the fact that Norilsk's industrial facilities emit toxic substances into the atmosphere every day, and the squalls of the wind often carry them directly to the city. As a result, its inhabitants breathe harmful air to the air.

The fact that Norilsk rightfully heads the dirtyest cities in Russia, is also confirmed by data on the state of the atmosphere. Sulfur dioxide in the air is 36 times, formaldehyde is 120, and nitrogen dioxide is 28 times the permissible value. In this case, harm is caused not only to human health, but to the environment, namely, soil and plants.

Experts analyzed the state of the flora that grows close to local dispensaries and sanatoriums, and came to a disappointing conclusion: the concentration of heavy metal impurities in plants and mushrooms is just off scale. Especially a lot of them were copper, zinc and lead.

Potentially dangerous

In the rating of the dirtiest cities in Russia, Dzerzhinsk, located in the Nizhny Novgorod region, also fell. In this locality there is a huge number of chemical industry enterprises. Four decades ago, chemical weapons were manufactured here , as a result of which the city "got infected" with such harmful substances as phenol, sarin and lead.

As a result of the operation of industrial facilities, heavy metals were trapped in the air, which was felt not only by the residents of Dzerzhinsk, but also by the townspeople living in the regional capital.

Another threat

The most environmentally dirty cities in Russia were found in the Far Eastern region. We are talking about Ore Dock and Dalnegorsk. Local residents suffer primarily from lead poisoning. All the fault of the metallurgical plant, as well as the way of transportation of lead concentrate is not safe for people's health.

Additional Risk Factors

At the same time, experts see the risks of an environmental catastrophe not only in harmful emissions of industrial enterprises into the atmosphere. Negative impact on human health is reflected and emissions of toxic substances by road. Its share of total emissions is about 40%.

According to representatives of Rospotrebnadzor, about 12 million tons of toxic substances enter the atmosphere every year, which subsequently settle in people's lungs.

According to statistics, about 58% of the population of our country suffers from deterioration of the atmospheric air.

In a number of regions, in particular Samara, Novosibirsk, Astrakhan, Omsk, Orenburg, Kamchatka, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, the above indicator was already 75%.

Well, to the maximum extent from the dirty air suffer, of course, the residents of the metropolitan metropolis and St. Petersburg.

Regions with better environmental conditions

Of course, in our vast country there are regions where human influence on the environment is not large-scale (against the background of others). Here, the air is clean, and the environment is not contaminated. We are talking about the Murmansk, Novgorod, Pskov, Yaroslavl, Smolensk, Tambov regions, the republics of North Ossetia, Karelia, Karachay-Cherkessia, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.
