The airfield "Kubinka" (Moscow region)

60 kilometers from Moscow, not far from the city of Kubinka, is the eponymous air base, which until the summer of 2009 was a joint-airfield. Since 2011, the base is the location of a mixed aviation regiment, which includes An-12, An-24, Tu-134 and others, as well as Mi-8 helicopters. And from the same time the airfield "Kubinka" is the Center for the display of aviation equipment of the 4th Center for Combat Training and Retraining of Aircraft, or abbreviated as CPAT-4 for pulp and paper.

At the same time, until 2011, the 237th Guards Aviation Technology Center was deployed at the air base, which included the Strizhi and Russian Knights aerobatic teams flying on MiG-29 aircraft and the OKB im. Dry. Despite the talk about redeployment, the military airfield "Kubinka" is still the site of the deployment of "Swifts" and "Russian Knights", who proudly represent our country at all the air show of the world.

Aerial aerobatics group "Russian Knights"

They were born on April 5, 1991, and after four and a half months they were already spoken about abroad - the first Polish air show in Poznan opened their names. Since that day, the development of the Sukhoi design bureau for the uniform design fighter for all has begun. Britain in 1991 for the first time witnessed the aerobatics of the group, and from that time she was invited to participate in all Russian and foreign airshows. What is the secret of the uniqueness of the "Russian Knights"? The fact is that this is the only team of pilots, performing aerobatics on heavy fighters. The demonstration flights given to us by the Kubinka airfield include programs involving four and six aircraft, two planes demonstrating synchronous, oncoming aerobatics, as well as a single flight with aerobatics figures.

The story of "Swifts"

This aerobatic team, known all over the world, was born on May 6, 1991. In fact, their history begins in 1950, when the new 234th Aviation Regiment of fighters was formed. Today, the Swifts are part of this regiment. Its main task was to prepare and conduct traditional air parades over the capital, the first of which took place in 1951, on May 1. Since the mid-1950s, ground and flight displays of combat aviation began, the launching pad of which was the airfield located in the city of Kubinka-flights were shown to students of military academies, as well as to the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff and all leaders of the Soviet Union, the pilots also showed their skills to military delegations Foreign countries. The beginning of the 1960s marked the expansion of the "Swifts" function - they began to accompany planes of heads and leaders of foreign states arriving in the capital of our country. "Swifts" are famous for the fact that they escorted the plane with the first Russian cosmonauts.

Emergency cases

The history remembers only two cases of emergency situations that occurred with both groups. The first tragedy occurred in 2006, when the Strizhye MiG-29UB was crashed right after taking off from the Perm airport "Bolshoe Savino". At the same time, the crew was not injured, successfully catapulted, and the cause of the accident was banal - birds were caught in both engines. The second case was recorded in 2009 in a joint flight "Swifts" with "Russian Knights". Two Su-27 fighters from the second group were wrecked, again no one was hurt.

Kubinka today

In December 2004, the Kubinka airfield opened on its vast spaces the first aeroclub in Russia - the Cuban Aviation Technical Sport Club ROSTO (DOSAAF), which is still one of the largest in the suburbs. This institution was erected exactly on the site of the Aviation Technology Display Center. Today, practice training sessions are held here, which precede real flights. The aircraft fleet consists of domestic and foreign aircraft. The territory is equipped with a dining room, as well as a hotel complex. Everyone can take a parachute training course today and take a parachute jump from a four-kilometer height, there are also courses on dome parachute acrobatics.

At the same time, the preparation process for the jump, flight, free fall and landing can be completely captured by the accompanying videographer. Preparation of paratroopers is conducted by masters of sports of international class and deserved masters of sports of Russia. Therefore, all those wishing to feel themselves a "bird of high flight" solve two basic questions, going to the airfield "Kubinka": how to get there and how to decide on a flight. It also teaches the art of piloting. After passing special training a person gets the right to self-management of the aircraft. Classes are conducted by reserve officers and graduates of aviation technical schools DOSAAF.

Reorganization of the "Kubinka"

Today, Kubinka accepts and dispatches international civil aviation flights, while all combat aviation units must be withdrawn from the airfield, since, as for the international message, since 1938 only military aircraft have performed such flights from Kubinka. In 2009, the airfield "Kubinka" was excluded from the list of joint-based airports. Thus, it will be a full-fledged civilian airport, and combat aviation units, in particular, "Strizhi" and "Russian Knights" may be deployed in Lipetsk. The proposed construction of an international business terminal on the terminal territory will be deployed on a 46 hectare area, and now there are 24 Soviet-era real estate facilities here. At the same time, the airport will continue to be a training center for the preparation and basing of aerobatic teams. Reconstruction of the airfield "Kubinka" should be completed by 2018.

Forum 2015

The first International Military Technical Forum has already been held here in the new Congress and Exhibition Center of the Patriot Park. Foreign partners were involved, showing new developments in the military-industrial and scientific spheres. Thus, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation demonstrates its readiness to establish contacts and cooperate with foreign states within the framework of the military-industrial complex, create new equipment, develop various solutions and introduce innovations. Within the framework of the forum, domestic military transport, fighter, assault and bomber aviation equipment was demonstrated .
