TEN for washing machine: a replacement. How to remove the heater from the washing machine?

As you know, modern models of washing machines are connected only to cold water. During the washing process, it is heated to the desired temperature by means of a built-in heating element. Therefore, the heater for the washing machine is of great importance. If this part fails, the performance of the entire device is disrupted.

With certain knowledge, you can repair the heating element yourself. For this you need to know how to remove the heater from the washing machine and make a replacement correctly.

Common reasons for the release of their heating element

The heater for a washing machine is of fundamental importance, so it is important to know why this part most often fails and how to prevent it from breaking.

  1. Terms of Use. In the process of work, the heating element constantly heats up and cools, this eventually leads to the deterioration of internal spirals and leads to its breakdown.
  2. Rigid water. The heating element is constantly in contact with water. Poor quality of its composition leads to the formation of scale on the tubes. This causes the TEN to spend more energy on heating the water to the required temperature. To prevent the formation of scale, experts recommend installing water filters on the water inlet hose, using special tools together with the powder when washing. It is also possible to periodically start the idle washing cycle, i.e. without laundry, using citric acid or the formulations containing it.

Where it is located?

Since the heater for the washing machine is the only heating element, it is located at the bottom of the tank for greater efficiency. But from which side of the device - rear or front, depends on the firm and model. Therefore, the replacement of the washing machine with a washing machine begins with the determination of its location. You can do it by the appearance of the device. If the rear wall of the washing machine is large, it is likely that the heating element is behind it. In any case, the rear protective part is much easier to remove than the front one, so you should start with it.

How to replace the heater with the back cover?

  1. Disconnect the washing machine from the power source.
  2. Drain all water from the tank (it can be saddled through an emergency filter).
  3. Expand the unit by opening access to the rear protective cover.
  4. Remove the rear panel by unscrewing the bolts or screws on which it holds.
  5. Behind the protective cover is the tank housing, under it is part of the TEN. The main part of the heating element for contact with water is in the tank.
  6. In order to remove the heater, you must first remove the terminals with wires.
  7. Next, unscrew the center nut of fastening the heating element using a nut or a tubular wrench.
  8. Unscrew it until the nut is in the same plane with the stud.
  9. Then, using a screwdriver or a hammer handle, the pin is squeezed out by pressing it.
  10. It is now possible to remove the heating element itself. But it should be taken into account that it is seated on a rubber seal. Therefore, in order to get it, you may need a flat-blade screwdriver.
  11. If a new heater for a washing machine has already been purchased, it can be put in place of a broken device. It is inserted into the hole in the same way as the old one was installed - evenly, tightly, without distortions.
  12. The existing nut is screwed on and tightened.
  13. Connect the terminals to the installed device.
  14. The protective wall of the washing machine is fixed back.

This is the simplest way to replace a heating element. It is much more difficult to do this through the front. For example, if the washing machine "Samsung", the heater is replaced via the front cover.

How do I replace the heating element through the front cover?

If there was a question about how to remove the heater from the washing machine "Samsung" or "Bosch", then it can be noted that the process of extracting the device is the same as described in the instructions above. The only difference is how to get to it. For this you need:

  1. As in the first case: disconnect the unit from the power supply, drain the water from the tank and release access both to the front of the machine and to the rear.
  2. Remove the upper protective cover. To do this, unscrew the two bolts from the back side and remove it from the front retainers.
  3. Remove the detergent drawer.
  4. Remove the bolts that hold the control panel and also remove it from the locks. It is necessary to carry out the work with special care, so as not to tear off numerous wires leading to the block of programs.
  5. Open the hatch, remove the clamp holding the cuff, and the sealing rubber itself.
  6. Unscrew the screws that hold the main front protective cover, it is removed from the latches (a little to yourself and down).

Now access to the heating element is open. It remains to disconnect it in the same way as described in the instructions above, to carry out the prophylaxis of the tank (remove the scale or foreign small objects) and install the new heater in place.

Where can I buy a new heating element for a washing machine?

If you plan to replace the failed component yourself, it is best to purchase accessories for the repair of household appliances in specialized stores. There, qualified salesmen will help you choose the right device.

Do not buy components at low prices through various message boards. The quality of such parts can not be checked properly. In the worst case, they can lead to breakage of other elements of the device.

Conclusion

If the washing machine has stopped heating water, the heating element is likely to have failed. You can do it yourself without the help of a master. The main thing is to follow the sequence of actions and choose the right heating element, which will correspond to the model of the washing machine.
