Temple of Dmitry Solunsky on Blagush - islet of true faith

Any house of God, be it a small village church or a big capital temple - a place where people come to talk with the Lord, tell about their needs, pray for loved ones, thank for the mercy of the Almighty. And not only God, but also the saints we honor as our personal assistants and intercessors.

Holy defender of warriors

Moscow is rich in places of faith. No wonder it is often called the city of "forty churches." The temple of Dmitry Solunsky on Blagusha refers to those religious buildings, the construction of which pleased God and was eagerly awaited by people. The name of the church was given in honor of St. Demetrius, called Mirotochtsem - the patron saint of Christian soldiers. Another name for the Great Martyr is Thessalonica. Remembrance of his feat in the name of Christian faith occurs on October 26.

The life story of a saint

The temple of Dmitry Solunsky on Blagusha is built in honor of the historical personality, who once lived in the Greek city of Thessaloniki. He was the son of a proconsul, a man who was not only wealthy and noble, but also held a high post in the city administration. However, Dimitri's parents were secret Christians, they baptized him as well, were brought up in a firm faith, love of God and humility. After the death of his father, Demetrius received a post by inheritance and, using his powers, began to openly express religious views, preach. Many fellow citizens, imbued with his fiery speeches and honest, virtuous way of life, converted to Christianity. It is worth noting that the same stronghold of kindness and sincere aspirations for God is the temple of Dmitry Solunsky on Blagush.

The martyr's death

The fate of the first Christians was, on the one hand, the brightest example of high spiritual work, on the other hand, an indicator of how thorny and complicated was the path of the Christian faith in the struggle against paganism and other beliefs. The temple of Dmitry Solunsky on Blagush is one of the monuments to such martyrs. Realizing that his life could be cut off at any moment, for the Emperor Maximian cruelly persecuted the Gentiles, Dimitri distributed all his property to the townspeople, who were poor and poor. And he heatedly, with tears, prayed, humbly betraying himself into the hands of God. During the prayer, the Emperor's guards killed him in the dungeon. And the body was thrown to be eaten by wild beasts.

A pattern of holiness

Temple of the Great Martyr Dmitry Solunsky in Moscow is not in vain famous for the wonders of healing and many others. After all, the saint himself was marked by a special merciful seal of the Holy Spirit. His body was not touched by predators, and saloon Christian brothers secretly buried. At the same time, with the help of his clothes, blood-stained, the followers of the saint treated the suffering and worked other miracles. And in the 4 th century in Thessaloniki was built the first church in honor of Dimitri, and the relics are put in a special silver cue. They mirled, which confirmed the sanctity of the Great Martyr. And the Blessed St. Dimitry of Solunsky's church was built in 1908-1911 in the Russian-Byzantine style, which reminded one of the hero of Christianity, the warrior of Dmitri Donskoi.

The fate of the temple

The church housed about 3 thousand people. The services were held in it until 1931 - a sad date for Russia. Otherwise, it can be considered a miracle that the temple of the Holy Great Martyr Dmitry Solunsky was not closed earlier, and his servants were not tortured like other repressed priests. But in the early 30-ies the building was almost collapsed, rebuilding for a metal processing plant. This outrage lasted more than 6 decades. Only in the early 90's, after solemn festivities in honor of the Baptism of Rus, the building returned to the Moscow diocese. Of all the churches in the capital, it was in the most defeated state. But the revival of the church took place extremely quickly, as if the Lord himself helped the workers. Since 2001, there have been constant service.

Second wind

Daily, many believing people come to the temple or are just looking for God. And it can not but rejoice. After all, the spiritual purity of each of us makes the society as a whole sincerely and purer. Sunday School operates at the church. Classes are conducted with different age groups: preschool children, younger students and youth. Their main goal is to help children learn to distinguish between good and evil, keep their consciousness and conscience clean, remain "children of God" even becoming adults. Naturally, children are given basic knowledge of Orthodox faith and culture. Conducted classes and age parishioners. Many useful missionary affairs are performed by temple attendants, visiting various social and medical institutions (orphanages, boarding schools, sanatoria, hospitals, nursing homes, etc.). Priests of the parish are frequent guests in prisons: in the Word of God, sinful hearts need even more than righteous ones. Consolation, support, wise advice, cleansing prayers - all these temple servants generously share with all who need it.
