Kenalog: instructions for use

Analogues, as well as "Kenalog", should be appointed by a doctor and only in cases of acute necessity, since these drugs are hormonal. The medicine "Kenalog" has two forms of release: a suspension for injection and tablets.

Tablets are given to adults at 4-16 mg per day. This dose is divided into 2 or 3 doses. After improving the patient's condition, the dosage is gradually reduced by 1-2 mg after 2-3 days. Thus, they reach the use of a maintenance amount of the drug equal to 1 mg in knocking, and then completely abolish the drug.

Before using "Kenalog" ampoules (analogues have a similar effect and have a similar pattern of application), they should be shaken well. The drug should not be administered intravenously and subcutaneously.

With symptomatic indications for adults, a suspension of 40 mg is intramuscularly administered. This dosage is used at the beginning of drug treatment. Injection is administered slowly, once every four weeks. If the patient has transferred the first injection well, then the drug is subsequently pricked every 2-4 weeks for 40-80 mg. If necessary, a single dose may be increased to 100 mg. To avoid subcutaneous atrophy, the drug is injected into the muscle tissue deeply. After injection, an alcoholic napkin is applied to the injection site.

Seasonal fever and other allergic pathologies are eliminated once a year, with one injection of 40 mg, during the pollen season. If there is a need for several injections, then they are administered at an interval of four weeks.

Dosage for intra-articular injection is determined by the parameters of the joint itself and the severity of the development of the disease. For adults and children over 12 years of age, the dose for small joints is taken up to 10 mg, for the average - up to 20 mg, large - up to 20 or 40 mg. If several joints are affected at once, the amount of the medicine is increased up to 80 mg. To quickly remove the symptoms of the disease, "Kenalog" can be administered together with a local anesthetic that does not contain a vasoconstrictor. Injections are set so that no depot of the drug is formed in the subcutaneous adipose tissue. The preparation should be administered with complete disinfection. Before the joint injection, the skin is prepared in the same way as for surgical intervention. You can reuse the medication after two weeks.

If the drug is injected directly into the lesion (for example, with bursitis, exostosis and inflammatory condition of the periosteum), then from 10 to 40 mg for the adult population and in children from the age of twelve. It depends on the area of the lesion and the location of the pathology. When you administer the drug in an amount of less than 10 ml, you should use the ampoules "Kenalog" of 10 mg. The drug is diluted with sodium chloride solution and fan-shaped into the zone with maximum pain. It is necessary to avoid the formation of a large drug depot. It is allowed to mix "Kenalog" with a local anesthetic.

In exostosis therapy, the drug is injected with a thick cannula, after the procedure of suctioning the contents and directly into the cyst space. It is permissible to reuse injections after two weeks.

If a shot is injected into a site with subcutaneous lesions, 40 mg of the solution is diluted with a local anesthetic, without a vasoconstrictor component. Injection is placed horizontally in the area located between the skin and the subcutaneous layer. This is done to obtain anesthesia of the infiltrate. Choose a dosage of 1 mg per 1 cm 2 of affected skin. If several foci are treated at the same time, the single dosage should not exceed 30 mg for adults and 10 mg for children.
With keloids, the drug in a dose of 40 ml, without diluting, is injected directly into the scar. You can not put the medicine subcutaneously. Repeated use is possible after two weeks. The duration of medication treatment depends on the severity of the disease, its development and, as a rule, is determined by the doctor.

The medicine can be used as a single (hay fever), and for several years (bronchial asthma in a severe stage of development). If after 3-5 injections there are no signs of improvement, the drug is canceled and the analogs in ampoules or tablets are prescribed instead of the "Kenalog" medication.
