Statistical processing of data and its features

Statistical processing of data is impossible without their ordering, generalization and analysis. Any results obtained must first be brought into such a form that they can extract the maximum of useful information from them. If the data received is too much, then they need to be grouped or generalized.

So, for grouping, it is necessary to determine the norms, according to which the received data will be distributed. In this case, the chosen method will not only determine the visibility, but also the potential usefulness of the information obtained. Correctly grouped research results are much more convenient to study and analyze.

Statistical methods of data processing can be applied in many areas of human activity. They can be divided into 3 main types:

1) universal methods that can be used without considering the scope of application;

2) methods for certain areas of activity, engaged in the study of real processes or phenomena;

3) methods for researching certain data.

It is clear, the more precise the method by which statistical processing of data is carried out, the more effective will be the analysis of a specific situation. If the first method is applicable to scientific results, the value of which will be evaluated only by general scientific criteria, then the third method is applied only to solve certain problems in a particular field.

In addition to general knowledge of the methods by which data is processed, it is also important to know how best to work with the results obtained. Statistical processing of data involves the creation of tables or graphs for the visibility of the information received.

At the initial stage, the information can be summarized in a table. For example, the statistical processing of experimental data, recorded in a tabular form, can save researchers from additional unnecessary records of indicators, measurement values, additional factors that affect the course of the experiment. In tables it is convenient to record not only the data of the conducted research or experiment, but also to sum up the intermediate and main results. True, in order to properly build them, you need to think through the necessary number of rows and columns in advance, and write down all the necessary parameters.

The table can be made simply on a sheet of paper or immediately enter data into the computer. The second option allows you to quickly sort out the data you need, find the largest or, conversely, a small value, sum up or find the average value for the selected result group.

Do not forget that if a competent statistical processing of data requires several tables, then they must be numbered and for each come up with a unique name.

A more graphic way of data recording is graphs. They visually show the relationship between different values, making it easier to understand the results of the study.

Knowing the basic principles of building tables and graphs, you can quickly and effectively process the data.
