Stadium "Borisov-Arena": construction, capacity, address
"Borisov-Arena" is a state-of-the-art football stadium in Belarus. Here, their home matches are played by the national team and the local team of BATE. The arena is located in Borisov. It meets all the requirements of UEFA, due to which it has the status of the fourth category (the highest one). This gives the stadium the right to host the final matches of any international competitions, including European and world championships.
The first project
One of the main reasons for the construction of the new arena in Borisov was the release of FC BATE in the group stage of the Champions League. This landmark event for all Belarusian football took place in 2008. Due to the mismatch of the city stadium UEFA standards, the team had to conduct all their home meetings in Minsk in the arena "Dynamo". This fact did not suit either the players, neither the club's management, nor the fans.
In 2009, the team made their way to the Europa League. And this time the club from Borisov was forced to play in Minsk. At the end of the season the directorate of FC BATE decided at the next meeting to approve the draft of a new stadium that would fully meet the requirements of UEFA.
Fans asked to build a large stadium, which could accommodate all comers, and in Borisov there are a lot of football fans. However, the project provided not only an arena. Commercial premises and several parking lots were to be located on the allocated territory.
In 2010, the Borisov-Arena project was completed and approved. The only changes concerned the shape of the roof and the holes in the walls.
Stages of construction
Preparatory work began in November 2010. For the construction of the stadium "Borisov-Arena" was chosen a huge platform in the forest near the main road to Minsk.
The construction phase of engineering communications began in late 2012. To the arena were laid drainage, water supply and power lines. The stands were built of reinforced concrete structures. By October 2012, almost all supporting columns were installed. The construction of sectors was rapid, as whole metal structures were used.
By the spring of 2013, all the stands had already been erected, the stage of installing special anti-vandal armchairs, which can not be set on fire, began. Soon the stadium "Borisov-Arena" was overgrown with a metal frame of walls. In late April, plasterboard partitions and special reflective sheets began to be attached to it. By this time, all plumbing work has already been completed.
In August 2013, "Borisov-Arena" got its final look. The stadium was ready for opening. According to some reports, the construction of the arena cost the management of the team $ 58 million.
