Social values and their characteristics

For a person to be free to exist in the world, he must be able to interact with surrounding people. Values are specific characteristics of the objects of our environment, which determine their positive and negative significance for each person and society as a whole. The social value of law is a concept that, once understood, a person will understand what his positive role in the life of society is. Thanks to him, a stable order is ensured in the structure of social relations, as well as the possibility of carrying out familiar human actions.

Note that a person, being a social being, must create certain patterns of behavior applicable in a particular situation. This is done in order to be able to safely exist in society and interact with other individuals. Such patterns are called social norms.

Social values - this is what is important for every person a priori. The decisions made once become our main line of conduct, which we try to adhere to every day, all our lives. That is why the value orientations act as a way of regulating and determining the behavior of the individual. They help him to distinguish the meaningful from the unnecessary, the essential from the meaningless.

The scientist D. Leontyev studied social values in detail and identified three forms of their existence that can mutually flow one into another:

  1. Social ideals.
  2. The subject embodiment of these ideals.
  3. Motivational structures.

Note that throughout life one system of values can be confirmed, the other - discarded because of its insolvency. As a result, a hierarchy is formed that contains concepts that are applicable and relevant to each person. Social values are a concept that everyone forms individually, therefore in one society it is difficult to find two people who would have the same system. Very often an individual is faced with the fact that his principles run counter to new systems, or theoretical foundations do not fit in with real life. In this case, multi-layered systems begin to form in which the declared values often disagree with reality.

Value orientations are the result of the socialization of individuals, that is, the mastering by them of all existing types of social norms and requirements that are imposed on individuals or members of a social group. The basis for their formation lies in the interaction of experience that people have with the samples of the existing social culture. On the basis of these concepts, one's own idea of the nature of personal aspirations is formed.

Business relations always contain a value aspect in their structure. It defines explicit and hidden standards of behavior. There is such a thing as professional values of social work, denoting stable beliefs and beliefs of people about the nature of goals, ways to achieve them and the principles of a future life. These values orient the social worker on the basic principles of his behavior in work and responsibility for his activities. They help an employee of any sphere to determine the rights and duties that he has as a professional.

Social values begin to form in early childhood. Their main source is the people surrounding the child. In this case, the basic role is played by the example of the family. Children, watching their parents, start imitating them in everything. Therefore, when deciding to have children, future mothers and fathers should understand what responsibility they are taking on themselves.
