Skirt-trapezoid: pattern. How to sew a skirt-trapezoid?

A skirt-trapezium as such is known from the sixties of the last century, it is a model of the A-silhouette, a fitting waist and slightly widening downwards. This style was destined to have a huge success, overturning the existing ideas about fashion, and not to lose their positions to this day.

This skirt can be both long and short, but it looks the most spectacular in the midi version - just a little for the knee. This style is ideal for a business woman as part of a business suit.

They sew such skirts from fabrics of almost any textures and colors. Summer models - from light materials (cambric, cotton, silk), warm - from dense knitwear, denim, jacquard, etc.

A trapeze skirt, the photo of which is given here, is a typical example of this style.

The colors of winter models, as a rule, are chosen classical - black, blue, dark gray, dark green, with a pattern in a strip or cage. Summer skirts do not have restrictions on colors and motifs - they can be fun, with flowers or peas.

Skirt-trapezoid, whose pattern is quite unique, does not tolerate unnecessary details - inserts, patch pockets, any darts. Only belts or belts, decorative buttons or contrast stitching of seams can serve as an ornament.

To whom does it fit?

The ideal "bearer" of such a skirt is a girl with a figure in the shape of an inverted triangle or with a rectangular figure, but it is quite slim. The fact is that the A-silhouette visually expands the bottom, while emphasizing the waistline. Therefore, ladies with full hips from this style should be discarded.

With an average length, the trapezoid skirt will help visually lengthen the legs and mask the extra volume in the waist. If your figure is an "apple" type, such a skirt will suit you, but more truly - up to the middle of the roe, this will help make the silhouette less cumbersome.

Slender beauties of lean physique can afford a trapezoid skirt with horizontal stripes or a fairly large pattern, which somewhat widens the hip area. Vertical lines in any suit visually draw a figure and additionally signify leanness.

What are they wearing?

This model is very democratic, it fits almost any blouse, T-shirt, sweater or top, as well as to a classic jacket, because of which skirts-trapezes are worn for work, and for friendly parties, and on dates.

A free image (for example, for walking around the city) is created by a combination of a trapezoid skirt with a simple T-shirt or tops on straps. Sexually, you'll look in such a skirt with a blouse on the figure, a T-shirt with a deep neckline or a tight-fitting turtleneck. All of the above creates a silhouette in the form of an hourglass and gives the woman a smooth appearance.

Shoes for any set is selected, based on the situation. In solemn cases, a heel is required, and the higher it is, the shorter the skirt. Everyday option for walking is better to choose in the form of ballet, slippers or sandals without heels.

Trapezoid skirt: pattern

It is universal. Stitched on her skirts are unusual for convenience and are suitable for almost any shape. The length can be anything - from maxi to mini, at the discretion of the hostess.

So, we decided that we needed a trapezoid skirt. The pattern of it is not so complicated, even a tailor with minimal experience can build it. To do this, first of all you need to stock up on the pattern of a classic straight skirt, built precisely for your figure by exact measures.

The skirt-trapezium with their own hands is sewn quite simply. The construction of her pattern is reduced to obtaining the desired A-silhouette from the usual direct. That is, you should expand the pattern of a straight skirt at the bottom. This is done due to the fact that darts at the waist are closed. It is necessary to cut our pattern from the top of each dart to the very bottom, then close all darts.

The extension in the lower part should be made the same for the front and back halves, with the rear dart possibly closing only partially. As a result, when sewing, we have to stitch a couple of small darts on the back. So we got our skirt-trapezoid, the pattern of which is almost ready. It remains to smoothly draw the bottom of the extended skirt, and as a result, we get two almost identical in size parts.

How to sew a skirt-trapezoid

It should take into account some of the nuances. How to sew a skirt-trapeze on the first attempt, without spoiling the fabric? We will cut it by the scythe, so that we need both patterns entirely (not halves) - the layout on the fabric will be made without folding it, in one layer.

Those who have some experience of sewing can do without a paper pattern entirely, but lay them on cloth and circle halves alternately. But it is better not to save on beginners on paper.

Fabric in a cage, cut by a scythe, will look an order of magnitude more interesting. This skirt will fit better on the figure and create a wonderful "streamlined" silhouette. For a warm skirt made of wool, this cutting option is optimal.

Further actions

Having a pattern of skirt-trapezoid length of about 60 cm, you can both extend it and shorten it. If we need a long trapeze skirt (in the floor), the side lines on the pattern should be extended downwards by the required number of centimeters. The new bottom line is also drawn with a rounding, for which we apply several intermediate marks at the same distance.

Fabric standard width (150 cm), lay down the face in one layer. From the corner we draw a diagonal, which will be the center line. If only halves of the pattern are available, apply them alternately on both sides. Thus, the fabric can be built and immediately lengthen (if necessary) the whole pattern of our skirt.

The second part is built in the same way, with the same slope of 45 degrees, along the edges, it is necessary to provide allowances for seams. Only by marking out all the details, you can start cutting.

What you should know about cutting and sewing

The material will need more if the fabric is of a smaller width or the skirt is strongly flared (as well as large). The expenditure of tissue also increases with increasing length or using tissue in a large cell (it becomes necessary to adjust the pattern).

When sewing tailored on the oblique skirt, its lateral seams will inevitably stretch, which can lead to deformation. When using tissue in the cell, you can focus on the already selected drawing - to combine control points.

The belt is duplicated by an adhesive gasket, the zipper is sewn on the side. The treatment of the bottom is carried out depending on the tissue and the desired effect. The machine stitch along the fabric in an oblique direction stretches it to avoid this, the bottom can be shaped with a wide hem with a hidden seam.

That's all! A trapeze skirt with your own hands is sewn! As you can see, this is not difficult at all. Good luck to everyone in the business of cutting and sewing!
