Signs and features of chronic appendicitis

Recurrent appendicitis

For this form of chronic appendicitis is characterized by alternation of bouts of pain in the lower abdomen on the right with periods of apparent improvement in well-being. During the exacerbation, fever, acceleration of ESR, increase in leukocytosis are noted.

When carrying out irrigoscopy in the absence of another pathology of the large intestine, a typical symptom of chronic appendicitis is observed: the incomplete process of the appendix, which is due to the clogging of its lumen, the presence of kinks or fecal stones. Indirect attributes include spasm or intestinal atony in the area of the small intestine transition into the thick. When carrying out an ultrasound examination, the lumen of the appendix is not determined, the wall is thickened, the process does not change its position when the patient's position changes.

Treatment of chronic appendicitis

All patients suffering from chronic appendicitis are shown to have an operative intervention - appendectomy. In most cases, recovery after such a procedure is quite fast and easy. The situation can worsen only when the disease has affected other organs.
