Hydronym

There are two versions of the origin of the name of the river. According to one of them, the name of the reservoir was due to the Karelian word "deep". And according to another version - from the Old Slavonic "left". In the past, this river flowed through the territory of Finland, and the locals called it marsh.

Characteristic

Shuya is a river that originates from Lake Suojärvi. Further it flows through the other two - Shotozero and Vagatozero. The mouth is the pond of Logmozero, which is connected with Onega.

Water quality in the Shuya River (Karelia)

The water itself is mostly dark, resembling tea in color. But this does not mean that it is dirty - quite the contrary, even very clean. A characteristic dark color is obtained due to peat bogs, which are surrounded by a river. The water quality is soft, has a small mineralization.

Shuya is a river in which there is not a very rich underwater world. However, fishermen manage to catch a pike or perch. The river bed became a favorite place for salmon. It is here that this species of fish spawns.
