Playing in the MHL

Sergei made his debut early for the team "Polar Bears", which performs in the Youth Hockey League. In 2009, she signed a professional contract with him. Already in his first year he spent 58 matches. In his native Chelyabinsk he could not find another one. The agent was not at that time. His second season in the Youth Hockey League, Sergei began in the Orenburg team "White Tigers". This club does not belong to strong league teams. Young talent wanted to become a leader here to attract the attention of specialists. This year, Sergei managed to realize his potential, gaining a decent number of goals and assists. Thanks to this his team went into the playoffs of the league and successfully passed the first round. But in the semifinals of the conference "White Tigers" lost to the Ufa team "Tolpar" with a score of 0-3 in a series of matches.

After this season, Sergey became interested in the breeders of the national team and the agents of the leading Russian clubs. The best season in the Youth Hockey League Shumakov spent for the club "Siberian snipers." In the season, he played 57 games and scored 55 points.

The debut in the KHL

For such a productive performance in the Youth League, Sergei was transferred to the main team of Siberia. His first exit in the CHL was held on February 17, 2012 in a match against the "Vanguard". But, to his great disappointment for him and the fans, he could not score points on home ice, as well as, incidentally, throughout the season. The first goal of Sergei took place in the next season on the road to the match against the Kazan "Ak Bars". Sergey Shumakov is a hockey player, certainly gifted. But to participate in the KHL he needed to gain experience. Therefore, according to the decision of the coach, this young hockey player was sent to play for the farm club "HC Transurals". For the 6 matches played in it, Shumakov showed a decent game. Effective for him was a game against the "Navy Karelia". In this meeting they were scored 2 goals and given one assists. After well-played by Sergey games on October 14, 2013, the management of the Siberian club decided to return it back to the team.

Career in the national team
