Biography

Vyacheslav Arkadievich Bykov was born in a small village in the Republic of Mari El on July 24, 1960. Soon the boy's family moved to the city of Chelyabinsk and began to live in the house of grandfather and grandmother Vyacheslav. When little Slava was 4 years old, he had his sister Anna. The parents of the future coach were simple workers. Arkady Ivanovich (father) was a tailor, and Galina Alexandrovna (mother) worked in preschool.

As a child, future coach Vyacheslav Bykov was very fond of playing sports. In addition to hockey, he was very keen on football. After the end of the 11th grade, Vyacheslav entered the Chelyabinsk Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture. But not the desire for this kind of activity was the reason for this choice. As Vyacheslav himself explained, it was the only university where there was a military department, since he did not want to give up sport for 2 years.

Despite the fact that as a football player he had great success, hockey became for him the meaning of life. He was a pupil of the best hockey school at that time, and his career began there.

Playing career

His future hockey career, the future coach Vyacheslav Bykov began at the age of 15 in the club "Burevestnik", at that time he was called "Selkhozvozovets", and in 1976 he closed. In 1979-1980 he was first played in the USSR championship in the team "Metallurg" (Chelyabinsk), where he managed to show himself with brilliance and become the best sniper of the season. Vyacheslav scored 50 goals in 50 games. Then two years he played for the team "Tractor". It was there that Viktor Tikhonov, who at that time was the coach of CSKA, noticed the high potential of the player and took Vyacheslav to the capital. When the future coach Vyacheslav Bykov moved to Moscow, he moved to the correspondence course at the Chelyabinsk Institute. Then he entered the Leningrad Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, where he was able to qualify for a coach.

Eight years of his career, he played in the "CSKA" team. This was the decisive moment in the formation of a young hockey player. Since 1982, the future coach Vyacheslav Bykov played in the USSR team as an attacker. His first game in the national team took place in Bratislava against the Czech team. It ended with our victory with a humiliating 7: 4 hockey score. In 1990, Vyacheslav Bykov together with his ice colleague decided to go to the Swiss club "Friborg Gotteron", but, nevertheless, both continue to play in the CIS team. During this period, the gold of the Olympics-92 and the World Championship-93 were added to the treasury of his awards. After 8 years, Vyacheslav moved to the hockey club "Lausanne", Switzerland, where two years later he finished his career as a hockey player. At this point, the legendary striker was 40 years old.

Coach career

After the player's career, Vyacheslav Bykov (coach), whose biography is described above, stayed in Switzerland, took citizenship and began working at the hockey club Friborg Gotteron. Later, in 2004, Vyacheslav was invited to lead the team of CSKA, where he worked until 2009. And since 2006 he was invited to lead the Russian team. The success did not take long, and in the next season both teams were able to achieve the main heights: CSKA reached the semifinals of the playoffs in the Russian championship, and the national team won in three stages of the European Championship, but lost in the final. In 2007, under the coaching of Vyacheslav Bykov, the Russian team won bronze at the World Championships, and a year later was able to win the main title of the world champion, to which was 15 years. In 2009, staying on the post of the head coach of the country, Vyacheslav signed a contract with the hockey club of Ufa "Salavat Yulaev".

Under the guidance of Bykov, the team managed to get bronze medals in the season 09/10, and the following year they won the Gagarin Cup. In 2011, Bykov left the Ufa club. A year earlier, the Russian team under the leadership of Bukov suffered a crushing failure, losing in the quarterfinals of the Olympics in Canada with a score of 3: 7, and in 2011 at the World Cup, our country did not have any reward at all. This was the reason for the departure of Bykov. In 2014, Vyacheslav returns to hockey and becomes coach of the SKA team, and in the first season the club manages to get the Gagarin Cup. In 2015, Bykov left the club, and to this day he is not engaged in a coaching career. As Vyacheslav himself says, his return is unlikely.

Personal life

Vyacheslav Bykov (ice hockey coach) was married at the age of 22, while still in Chelyabinsk. His wife Nadezhda bore him two children: his daughter Maria and Andrei's son. The whole family of Bykov lives in Switzerland to this day. Daughter Maria works as a producer, and her son follows in the footsteps of his father and defends the Swiss hockey club "Friborg Gotteron", and also plays in the national team of the country.
