Sauna with their own hands: how to do?

Probably everyone who has at least once got into a sauna or a sauna, attended the thought: "And do not you make yourself the same house?" In general, the construction of a sauna is not a bad idea, but to realize it, you need to think carefully about all the nuances. In today's article, we will reveal to you secrets, through which you will learn how to make a sauna with your own hands.

Of what we will build?

First of all, you need to decide what kind of material you will use to build the walls and lay the foundation. In general, a sauna with their own hands can be built of wood or brick. Also, during the construction of baths, the foam block is widely used. Some enthusiasts start building a sauna with a swimming pool. Agree, very not bad, especially for owners of private houses. If you do not have certain brick masonry skills, then the best option for building a bath is still a tree. From it, the walls and the ceiling are built. The foundation should be made concrete.

Determined with costs

So, you need a sauna in the house. With your own hands, you can build not just a steam room - a palace! There would be a desire. And, accordingly, money. For the total cost of the project directly depends on the dimensions of the room. For example, a bathhouse measuring 3x3 meters will cost about 7-8 thousand dollars. Well, for the construction of 6-meter Penates will have to lay out at least 20 thousand "green". As you can see, a sauna (sauna) is very expensive. However, we will try to invest in 7 thousand dollars.

How to save money on construction?

Below we list the main factors affecting the cost of building a sauna:

  1. Material for walls (log or timber).
  2. Type of log (rounded or not) or timber (can be profile and glued).
  3. The area of the bath (here you should calculate, based on the number of visitors).
  4. The choice of finishing and facade building materials (lining, roofing and so on).
  5. Employment of labor for erecting a structure. Here you can go two ways - hire a few professional workers and pay everyone $ 500 or do it yourself. The latter option should be considered only if there is at least a minimum of experience in this area of activity.
  6. It is worth paying attention to the time factor, namely: how long will the sauna be built? With their own hands (that is, only you do), you can kick out such a structure in six months, and if you take into account that you also need to go to work, the process can be delayed for the whole 12 months. In the variant with hired workers, this period is reduced to three weeks (a maximum of a month).

Execution of relevant documents: is it necessary?

Before you start building a sauna on your site, you will need to solve the legal side of the issue. And here it is necessary to note one important detail. According to the Urban Planning Code of the Russian Federation (Article 51 "Permitting Construction Permits", p.17), for the erection of a bath (this structure belongs to the objects of auxiliary use), it is not necessary to have the appropriate permit. Therefore, if someone tells you about the need to make such documents, and even more so will require money from you, you know - this person either does not know the above code, or simply a rascal. So we build a sauna with our own hands without any fear!

The only thing you need to do after building a bath is to contact the BTI and go through the state registration of the newly erected object on your site.

Where will the sauna be located?

So, before you the question arose: "How to build an object such as a sauna yourself?" Building with their own hands begins with the preparation of a building site. It must be chosen, guided by the following factors and rules:

1. The location of the building should be away from wells and wells, at a distance of at least 20 meters. In this case, the site on which the bathhouse is built should be removed from houses and other structures by no less than 20 meters.

2. The proposed object should be separated from the neighboring site by at least 2.5 m, and that provided that the bath does not cause inconveniences to neighbors. In this case, it is necessary to coordinate the construction with the neighbors in advance and to issue a written consent, then to avoid disputable issues.

3. Choose a place for construction in such a way that it is on a hill. So you will rid yourself of the need to build a special drainage system from the sauna, that is, the water will go away naturally. Also, experts recommend to have windows on the west side, and doors - from the south.

Sauna plan

Before you start buying building materials, you need to draw up a small drawing - a scheme for future construction (ie, a plan for building a sauna by yourself). The most common option is to build a room measuring 4x4 meters. In such a case, the waiting room is designed (1.7x3.7 m), the washing room (2x2 m) and the steam room itself (2x1.7 m).

Sauna with our own hands: choose a stove

At this point I would like to dwell in more detail. The furnace for the sauna with their own hands is quite realistic, but before you start these works, you need to decide which type it will be. There are several types of sauna stoves:

  1. Classic brick.
  2. Gas heaters.
  3. Electric.

Connoisseurs of this Russian bath know that the "right" oven, which is optimal for our purpose, can not be purchased at the store. It must necessarily be made of bricks. And it is built directly on the site, to install it somehow otherwise impossible. Often the average weight of such a kiln is about 1000 kilograms. For this reason, the foundation for the sauna should be concrete.

When the sauna is heated, the stones can be heated to a temperature of 500-600 degrees Celsius, but the room will not overheat. Fans of the Russian bath believe that only at this temperature a truly healthy body of couples is formed.

At the moment, almost everyone is given the opportunity to use high-tech thermal insulation materials when laying a heater. Due to this, the loss of heat coming from the glowing stones is significantly reduced. By the way, and the time to build a sauna, it will also take less. In the presence of thermal insulation materials, the entire process will take approximately 4 hours, while in normal conditions it takes an entire 8 hours. The temperature of the walls will range from 40 to 60 degrees Celsius, and from the oven itself comes a smooth and "velvet" heat. In such conditions, the bath will not burn out the air, and accordingly, the person will easily breathe.

However, not everything is as good as it seems at first glance. There are also some disadvantages of the heater. The main one is the impossibility of erecting it without the help of a master's hand. And if in the construction of walls and foundations you could do without hired workers, then a brick heater can be built only by a real expert who knows the point in this case. Whatever one may say, you can not build such a sauna for yourself with the hands - you will have to hire workers and incur additional costs. But it's worth it!

Where to place the furnace?

As a brick kiln works on wood, it is necessary to determine in advance where the furnace furnace will be located. It can be installed both in the next room and directly in the steam room. Many owners choose the first option. Yes, to lead to a separate twin tunnel - the pleasure is not cheap, but it's very convenient to use such a stove. And the furnace door can be made of glass and decorated like a fireplace. Thus, you will have the opportunity to enjoy not only the view, but also the warmth of the living fire, even in the rest room.

Electrical analogues

Such furnaces are equipped with a special control unit (less often - a remote control). Thanks to the availability of this device, you will be able to remotely set the necessary heating temperature and the warm-up period. Moreover, electrical devices have the function of automatic on / off, that is, the heating of the bath can produce in a clearly defined period of time.

Another type of equipment does not need a chimney installation, which also significantly saves time and cost of construction work. Note that the price of electrical devices can be different. The cheapest options can be purchased for 5-5.5 thousand rubles. However, here it is necessary to clarify the power of this furnace - it should be sufficient to quickly warm the bath room. As a rule, this parameter is calculated based on the area of the sauna - 1 kW of energy is required per 1 m 2 . That is, in our case, a device with a capacity of at least 16 kilowatts is required for a 4x4 meter bath .

Up to what progress has reached!

Some models of electric furnaces are equipped with an integrated steam generator. Thanks to this device, it is possible to optimize the ratio of temperature and humidity to air. In the case of stone analogs, this possibility is excluded.

Gas devices

This is probably the least common type of oven. Their principle of operation is to use the energy of the main or balloon gas. The only plus of such devices in front of all other analogues is the lack of the need for logging and minimal gas absorption (the operation of such equipment is the most economical compared to the rest).

The best option is to purchase so-called combined ovens. These devices can operate on two types of fuel - gas and wood. However, their cost is 20-30% more than for conventional gas furnaces.

Decorating the room

Interior decoration (with your own hands) of the sauna is the kind of construction work that needs to be given special attention. Typically, this process is performed in a certain sequence:

  1. Floor.
  2. Ceiling.
  3. Walls.

Let's start with the floor. Many sauna lovers recommend using natural wood or timber as a floor covering. However, here it is necessary to note the fact that with every new use of the sauna, any tree will absorb an incredible amount of moisture. If no measures are taken in time, an unpleasant smell of rot will soon form in the steam room. Therefore, in order to avoid such consequences, experts recommend covering the floor with ceramic (clinker) tiles. In this case, the concrete base is pre-poured. To ensure that the sauna (built by oneself) does not accumulate moisture everywhere, the slope of the surface of the base should be 1: 100 towards the pit. So in the steam room there will not be one solid puddle in the center.

How is the mini-sauna done by yourself? All the rest (walls and ceiling) can be safely trimmed with wood, without fear of any unpleasant consequences. Unlike the floor, these areas are practically not exposed to such a strong impact of moisture, and therefore you can forget about various smells and fungus.

So, we found out how a sauna is made in the house with our own hands. Finally, a small tip: the construction of a bath is best to start in May-June, then, with a lucky coincidence, in the fall you can have plenty of steam.
