Safe colors and html

Safe colors or, in a different way, the web-palette was created to reconcile browsers. Earlier, when computers and monitors could not display the required number of shades, the developers were very worried about the discrepancy. They were worried that their pages would look different in different browsers and monitors. Old output devices limited the activity of developers. Therefore, for the safety and security of the original form of Internet pages and were invented web colors.

Creature

As you know, html and css use several methods to determine the color value. Most web developers use special RGB-codes, which indicate the individual number of the hue. For example, this entry: "# 223366" means that 22 - red, 33 - green and 66 - blue are taken. The latter value is in the predominant amount. And if you mix in such proportions of paint, you will get a dark blue color. RGB is an abbreviation for the English words Red, Green and Blue. And it was these colors that were chosen for the additive color model, with which the synthesis of paints takes place. Some suggest that the safe html colors were assigned at random. But this is not so. The choice was made with the help of a dry mathematical calculation. Only those values that are divisible by 3 and which have a pair of identical digits were selected. For example: "# 663366" or "# cc0099" (where c means 13). And colors such as "# ff66d6" or "# 9999AA" no longer refer to safe colors, as they violate basic rules. If the monitor met an unknown shade, then he tried to replace it or create a new paint. Most often used a system of dithering, in which the mixing of colors occurred in order to create another. Sometimes this method helped to avoid irreversible consequences of incorrect display, but there were cases when the picture of the site completely changed. That's why a separate palette of colors was created , which had full coordination with the devices and browsers of that time.

Using

As you probably already knew, the safe colors for the site look very meager, as there is not a lot of variety of shades and overflows. But when using old monitors, this palette was the only way to get the same display of pictures on different devices. Now there is no need to use safe colors, because practically every Internet user has modern equipment that easily produces all the known shades. Sites look very meager if you only use the web palette. Some graphics editors (such as Adobe Photoshop) still leave the option of selecting only a safe color. But progress does not stand still, and every year something new appears in the programming sphere.

Conclusion

Use of safe colors today does not make sense. Almost all the old monitors are replaced with new ones. Therefore, safe colors are already going down in history and will soon disappear completely from all programs and Internet pages.
