Reviews of the movie "The Daughter of God": from the extreme to the extreme

Detective drama with elements of the criminal thriller "Daughter of God", when she appeared at the box office, became the object of close attention to a wide audience, as the main roles in it were performed by the stars of the first magnitude: the charismatic Keanu Reeves and the charming Ana de Armas.

From extreme to extreme

Reviews of the film "The Daughter of God", published by authors-contributors of the leading media devoted to the cinema, are diametrically opposed, which is not surprising, as the picture has a rather low rating IMDb: 4.20. Many experts call the project Guy Malik Linton a failure. In the film there are many components of success: intrigue, an exciting secret, a "double bottom" and an extremely unexpected ending, but all this does not save the picture. Detective drama is served boringly, coldly, exerts a depressing effect. Tight dialogue, sometimes meaningless, tires the viewer. Because of the unsuccessful direction and painful atmosphere, the characters of the criminal thriller seem uninteresting and unpleasant, separate - and completely repulsive.

At the same time, the film "The Daughter of God" reviews critics who are not as categorical as they are called a film project that bribes paradoxically with its intrigue and its ambiguity. A simple narrative, though not answering any question, permanently provides the viewer with food for thought, which in itself is valuable and at the emotional level does not leave the viewer indifferent.

"Left" or "Unprotected"

The filmmakers of all stripes, leaving feedback on the film "The Daughter of God", did not forget to mention the original title of the picture. During the production, the criminal thriller was called "Unprotected" or "Abandoned," and only on the eve of the public premiere show the authors changed the working version to a more intriguing and vociferous "Daughter of God". The film can be safely called the brainchild of the debutant Guy Malik Linton, who appeared in the cinema in three ways: a screenwriter, producer and director. However, to put the thriller he helped another newcomer - director Declan Dale. Critics, analyzing the film "The Daughter of God" (2016), reviews about the professionalism of Linton left quite supportive.

Unconventional thinking

Specialists noted the ability of Guy Malik to combine the uncommonness of author's thinking and healthy ambitiousness. At the debutant there is a desire to speak about important things, to raise biting topics. Therefore, the picture has not only a stylish visual series (a combination of uniformity of colors and successful stylistics of the operator's work), but also a meaningful unity. In the tape, all the genre components of the criminal picture and the supernatural mystical moments present do not simply create an exciting atmosphere, but also serve as tools for the realization of the author's intent. On these postulates in the majority the reviewers who have published positive responses about a film "the Daughter of the God" lean.

Plot

102-minute story is built around two main characters, formally in no way connected with each other. One of the central characters - detective Scott Galban (Keanu Reeves), investigating the strange circumstances of the recent death of his partner. The last who saw the deceased alive was the spiritualized beauty Isabelle de la Cruz (Ana de Armas). An immigrant from Latin America is trying to start life from scratch. But more recently, she witnessed a supernatural event, which can not be rationally explained. After this, the girl is regularly tormented by sudden visions. This is a brief description of the plot line of the thriller "Daughter of God." Reviews of the film, considering in detail the structure of the narrative of the tape, warn the viewer that each of the two parallel stories is revealed quite distinctly, but, unfortunately, inexpressively and crumpled. All points above "and" are placed only in the finals, answering all questions arising during the viewing. The culmination of detective drama is the only powerful moment in an obviously flimsy tailoring story.

Actors' Ensemble

The film "The Daughter of God" reviews reviewed recommended for viewing because of a good cast. The consent to participate in the production of the tape was given by Christopher McDonald, Mira Sorvino, Keanu Reeves and Ana de Armas.

Reeves confidently adds to his filmography tapes related to the modern author's cinema. He already collaborated with Mark Mann, Chad Stahelski, David Litche and Elay Roth. In the draft last Keanu first met on the set with Anoy de Armas. In the thriller "Tuk-tuk" she played the role of a slovenly blonde, but in "The Daughters of God" the actress appeared before the audience with a spiritual, restrained brunette. Ana de Armas is considered a promising performer who can build a brilliant career at the Dream Factory in a short time.

Author's metaphors

According to film critics who wrote reviews about the film "The Daughter of God," the Linton project is priceless by the effort not to oppose, but to combine the dissimilarity of the views of the main characters, which the author seeks to lead to identity in the form of humanism. Darling Isabel is the personification of the man of faith, and the disbelieving Scott is the embodiment of a man of reason, disappointed, imperfect, but rebellious and unsettled. In other words, the character Keanu Reeves is positioned by the creators as a metaphorical image of a person who has great potential. The dilemma of the proportionality of the sacred and the everyday can be removed as not burning - every philistine combines the features of these phenomena. For convincing proof of this statement, Guy Malik Linton deserves a stormy ovation.
