Reproduction of grapes

Grapes can be propagated and seeds, and vegetatively. However, the reproduction of grapes with seeds (seeds) is a more laborious and complex process. Vine growers still prefer a vegetative way, using rhizomes (litters) or a vine.

Reproduction of grapes by chibouks

For billets produce highly productive and powerful shrubs. Vine should be well ripe. You can check the degree of aging by iodine, having moistened with a 1% solution the cuts on the selected cuttings. If the vine is ripe, then it will turn dark, if not, then the cut will become pale green.

Do not take chibouki with spiny, sprouts, sprouting shoots. Use the lower and middle zones of the vines. Will be suitable and stepsons, if they are well developed. The upper cut of the cut should be at least 6 mm.

If the area of viticulture is covered, then for harvesting use autumn pruning. Wherever the grapes do not hide, the workpiece is carried out at the end of winter.

Of the cut shoots, the planting material must be collected and prepared on the same day. Chubuk must be cut with a secateurs below, under the knot. In this case, a small stump (up to 2 cm) should be preserved. It is best to use the lower part of the shoot, adjacent to the fruit arrow. Eyes are more closely approximated (and better developed), therefore, rooting will be strengthened. Vine flat, twisted, damaged cull immediately. The stalk should be 70 cm long (20 cm more than the depth of planting). If you have the experience, you can try billets double (140 cm, they will better resist the desiccation).

Each batch bind in dense bundles in grades, attach labels and cover with moss, straw or a damp cloth. Your task is to preserve the vitality of the grapes until spring. The best option will be boxes of sand, put in the basement. Cuttings for a couple of seconds in a solution of vitriol (5%).

Preparation for planting is carried out in early spring and is the final stage. Chubuki with damaged kidneys or browned wood are discarded, and the remaining ones are refreshed with slices. Root formation is stimulated by scratching the cortex and bast on the lower nodes and internodes (the furrows are scratched by the teeth of the hacksaw). With reduced humidity cuttings should be soaked for a couple of days, immersing them a third into the water. Such a dive will accelerate the appearance of rootlets.

For landing, a sunny place is chosen. The size of the fossa is about 30 cm. The bottom is poured with sand, and bundles of cuttings are set (the kidneys are directed downwards). Sprinkle the pit with sand, top is added sawdust (steamed) and earth. Now you can cover the glazed frame. The earth around the pit is mulched (this will protect against overheating) with straw or moss.

Reproduction of grapes by layers

This is the simplest method, in which it is possible to achieve the power of the bushes in a short time. Fruiting is possible already next year. There are two ways: the green offsets and the outliers by the stump of the stiff.

In the first method, a mother bush is selected with a high yield and a powerful shoot, located near the root. Stepnants need to be deleted. By August, the escape will reach 2.5-3 meters. From the main bush digging ditch with vertical walls, the bottom should be withdrawn at 40 °. On the part of the vine, which will be in the ground, remove eyes, mustaches, leaves. Pour black soil into the bottom of the ditch and spread the dung, dig and lay the vine, bending it upwards. Above the ground should remain 3-4 leaves. The batch is covered with earth, compacted and watered.

The second method practically repeats the first. The only difference is that on the shoot left 4 eyes upper, and the rest are blinded.

If the layering is done in the autumn, then the top of the shoot is covered with earth (25 cm). In the first year there will be 3 or 4 shoots with a crop. The next year the bush is formed and the yield is higher. Separate the layers from the mother bushes in 3-4 years.

Reproduction of grapes by layers is the simplest and has a huge plus: bushes grow more quickly and become powerful in a short time, as they receive a double feed (their own (due to roots) and maternal).
