Removing programs in Ubuntu. Several ways

All owners of computers, laptops, web-tablets and smartphones regularly resort to such an action as the removal of programs. Android, iOS, Windows or Linux, being popular operating systems, are constantly being improved, which allows users to delete applications as simply as possible.

Especially fast it can be done in Unix-like Ubuntu system. In the latest OS versions, the whole process is reduced to a couple of clicks. It is possible to use several methods to delete packages.

In the Ubuntu Application Center

The most affordable option is to remove programs through the "Ubuntu Application Center". The repository window is opened with one click on its icon, located on the sidebar of the desktop. Then in the search bar, which can be seen in the upper right corner, you should enter the name of the already unnecessary program and enable the search. After a second, the application logo will appear in the results window, click on it to drop the field with the "Delete" button. After clicking on it, the authentication window opens, where it is necessary to enter the password, so that the process takes some time.

In the terminal

You can also just delete the program in the terminal. It can be opened in the "Main Menu" (the top icon in the sidebar on the desktop) in the "Standard" section. This can be Gnome-Terminal or drop-down emulators, such as Guake or Tilda. Deletion of programs is given by the command:

Sudo apt-get remove "program name" .

After pressing "Enter", you need to enter the password that was set to log into the system. For security reasons, when you type the password in the terminal window, you will not see asterisks or circles. The entire process of removing packages will be seen by the user in the emulator window.

Using the Synaptic Package Manager

There is another way in which you remove programs. Ubuntu has the "Synaptic Package Manager", which is not installed by default on the system, so you need to download it from the repository. It should be noted that Synaptic is a complex graphical program, which is a much more powerful software management tool than the Ubuntu Application Center, which can not solve many tasks related to working with packages. Typically, only experienced Linux users work in Synaptic It is recommended to beginners to remove programs in two previous ways, especially the first option, since the repository can read the description of programs and reviews about them.

After installing the "Package Manager" you need to find it in the "Main Menu" and open it. When you start, you will need to enter a user password. In the upper right corner of the program window, click on "Search" to have a tab in which you want to enter the name of the program to be deleted. When the application is found, you need to right-click on it and select "Mark for deletion" from the drop- down list , then the "Apply" function will be available in the application menu, marked with a green tick. Now it remains to click on this button, in the opened window, check the list of changes made, click "Apply".

In these three ways, you can remove programs in Ubuntu.
