Reconstruction of Schelkovskoye highway: plan, project, scheme. Timing of the reconstruction of Shchelkovo highway in the Moscow region

The transport situation in the Eastern Administrative District of Moscow has been quite tense for quite some time. The capacity of the existing road network has been exhausted. And a radical change in the situation could only reconstruction of Schelkovskoye highway as one of the main highways going eastward.

From the history of the question

The road from the center of Moscow in this direction existed since ancient times. But in the final form, in its current form, the Shchelkovo highway was formed only in the late nineteenth - early twentieth century. Intensive development on both sides of the highway occurred here during the Soviet period of history, mainly in the second half of the last century. The name Shchelkovskoe highway was received in 1960 in honor of the city near Moscow, in the direction of which it is going. It is interesting to note that at the same time the route does not pass through Shchyolkovo. Reconstruction of Schelkovskoye Highway has been ripe for a long time. But this question was constantly postponed for an indefinite time for various reasons, mainly of a financial and economic nature.

The process went

But the business shifted from the point of freezing about a year and a half ago. The full-scale reconstruction of Shchelkovo Highway began in September 2012. The builders had to perform a very significant amount of work throughout the entire length of the highway. And it was necessary to do this within a fairly limited time period, since the implementation of such large-scale projects inevitably creates great problems for the entire transport infrastructure and daily life of the city. However, in the course of the work, their general contractor, which is OJSC Transstroy Corporation, faced significant difficulties. Currently, there is a significant lag behind the schedule. Nevertheless, the planned timeframe for the reconstruction of the Schelkovskoye Highway envisages the completion of the entire project in full by September 2014. They have not been revised yet.

Preparatory work

The daily life of such a large metropolis as Moscow is directly dependent on the smooth functioning of transport communications. And any work on the reconstruction of the existing infrastructure can not but affect the capacity of the highway throughout the construction period. In order to reduce this period to a possible minimum, a preliminary cycle of work was carried out aimed at unloading the highway and organizing detours along parallel streets. Reconstruction of the Schelkovskoye highway was possible only after preliminary removal of engineering communications, the contact network of urban electric transport and cutting down of green plantations on the extended sections of the route. That was produced, albeit with a significant lag behind the schedule.

Technical details of the project

The plan for the reconstruction of Shchelkovo Highway implies carrying out works along the entire length of the main road from the Garden Ring to the Moscow Ring Road. The length of the reconstructed section is approximately eleven and a half kilometers. The main idea of the reconstruction is aimed at creating an unexplored traffic zone at the maximum possible distance of the highway. This, though not the only, but the most effective method of fighting traffic jams. In addition, the scheme for the reconstruction of Shchelkovo highway implies a significant expansion of the carriageway and the provision of three-four-lane traffic in each direction, with the allocation of the right lane for public transport.

Overpass near the metro station "Schelkovskaya"

The most complex engineering facility, which includes the reconstruction project Shchelkovo highway, is a two-level transport interchange at the intersection of the highway with the Ural street. The total length of this overpass exceeds half a kilometer. The main difficulty in its construction is that it is necessary to build the entire structure without stopping traffic on the intersected street. To do this, all sections of the span structure are built directly on the site, on a special pile. After that they are gradually pushed over the roadway. This is not the easiest and most affordable way to install, but it does not stop the movement.

Close to Schelkovskoye highway

It's no secret that when carrying out such large-scale reconstruction of city highways, the matter can not be limited to the expansion of the roadway and even the construction of multi-level interchanges. The effectiveness of all this will be reduced to zero if the necessary set of works is not carried out in the areas directly adjacent to the reconstructed highway and on the intersecting streets. That is why the ongoing reconstruction of Shchelkovo Highway provides for the construction of lateral driveways and approaches to the junction at the metro station "Shchelkovskaya", the construction of three new and major repairs of two existing underground passages, repair of traffic lights and roadway fences. In addition, the reconstruction program provides for the replacement of thirty thousand window blocks in houses, the facades of which overlap the highway. Such a measure can reduce the noise level in apartments.

Reconstruction of Schelkovskoye highway beyond the Moscow Ring Road in question

The weakest point in the whole of a well-developed project was that part of it, which implied continuation of work in the direction of the region. Immediately after the crossing of the Ring Road, the lane sharply narrows, and the so-called "bottleneck" arises. Traffic jams in this place become inevitable. Reconstruction of Schelkovskoye highway outside the Moscow Ring Road was traditionally considered the second part of the project. It was supposed to start after the work on the whole route from Sadovoe Ring to MKAD was completed. But in reality everything was not so simple. The problem is that behind the Ring Road there are not even sidewalks of normal width, and residential houses very closely approach the roadway. For the most part, these are modern multi-storey residential complexes. Their possible demolition and re-laying of the entire underground communications system would have cost the budget very dearly. The construction of a large tunnel would not be less expensive. Currently, the final decision regarding the continuation of Schelkovskoye highway beyond the Moscow Ring Road has not yet been made. Various options are considered. There are several options for building duplicate routes. But the complexity of their laying is due also to the fact that they will have to be built in the forest lands outside Moscow, which have the status of protected areas.
