Rakhmaninov Museum-Estate "Ivanovka": the whole life and work of the great composer in one place

The only museum in Russia intended for everyone who wants to learn about the life and work of the composer, pianist and conductor Sergei Rachmaninov, is the Ivanovka Museum Estate of Rachmaninov, located in the Tambov Region, in the Uvarovsky District. This is the world's largest museum center of the great composer, which today has become one of the largest cultural and tourist sites in the Tambov region.

History

An old manor owned by landowner Alexander Satin became for the great musician and composer Sergei Rachmaninov a real second home in which he spent all the warm months in the period from 1890 to the revolution itself.

Simple landscapes of native nature gave the composer an amazing creative inspiration, it was here, in Ivanovka, that he worked most easily, here his most significant works were created.

A real connection with this small Tambov village appeared at the composer when he married the daughter of the landowner - Natalia Satina. Ivanovka became a family estate where Rachmaninov's daughters, Irina and Tatiana, grew up.

Reconstruction and creation of a museum

During the Civil War, all the buildings of the estate were destroyed. Restoration of buildings began only in 1968, when the unique in Russia center for the memory of the composer - the Rakhmaninov Museum-Estate "Ivanovka" was created on the site of the former landowner's house. All buildings were restored according to old drawings and schemes - the house became an absolute copy of the real estate. Not only the outer walls were restored, but also the details of the interior and household items were reconstructed in bitterness. Work on the last several decades. Currently, the estate has been restored almost completely, including courtyard buildings.

The most painstaking work on creating small architectural details was performed according to old photographs. Today it is impossible to find any significant differences between the old house of the landowner Satin and the complex of buildings in the village of Ivanovka. Museum-Estate Rachmaninov (photo, on which you can compare the buildings and interiors, this is confirmed) returned to its original appearance.

Cultural and scientific work of the museum

The first visitors entered the museum doors in 1982. Even then, various festivals and cultural events were organized here. Over time, many of them became regular, some - international.
