Psychological thriller "Exam": actors and roles

The film of the English director "Exam" is shot in the genre of a chamber psychological thriller. The creator himself calls himself a supporter of minimalism, in which case the picture is a philosophy of how far people can go for their own purpose. Events develop in a single microcosm. The script is written universally and can be modeled on the fate of each person who is looking for a good job.

"Exam" (psychological thriller): the plot

In the center of the plot are eight talented candidates for a vacant position in a large company. On the way to their goal they already had to overcome numerous tests and tests, and here is the last exam ahead. Actors well convey the emotions and feelings that every person would have in this situation.

All contestants are led to a room with several tables, each of which has sheets of paper with the candidate number and pencils. Heroes remain under the supervision of video cameras and a silent guard. A strict observer pronounces the following: "The dream job will be given to the one who answers the last question within 80 minutes". However, he leaves without saying the main question.

The conditions for the successful passing of the exam are the following: who will speak to the supervisor or guard, spoil his sheet of paper or leave the cabinet - will be taken out of the cabinet and disqualified. Any questions? The examiner leaves, 80 minutes have gone by. Turning over their sheets of paper, the contestants discover that nothing has been written on them. At this moment, everyone is in shock, because it is not known what question they should answer. The Asian girl begins to write on her sheet and immediately violates the rule not to spoil him, therefore, she is disqualified.

One of the men draws general attention to the fact that one can not talk only with an observer and a guard, but they can easily communicate with each other. To preserve the secrets of their personalities, the contestants give each other nicknames:

  • White.
  • The black.
  • Dark.
  • Blonde.
  • Brunette.
  • Brown.
  • Deaf.

It also turns out that it is allowed to spoil someone else's paper and pacing around the office. In search of a question to be answered, the contestants do not do anything. They break the lamps, looking for infrared rays, wet the paper in water, set fire to. No manipulation does not help them find the coveted question of the exam.

The only one who has withdrawn from everyone and does not take part in all manipulations is the Deaf person. The only thing that this man says: "We need only to see clearly."

The brunette decides to provoke the fire alarm to wet the sheets and see the watermarks on them, but it turns out that she set fire to her sheet, so she is disqualified. From the communication between the test subjects it becomes clear that the activity of the organization, where everyone dreams of getting a job, is connected with the development of medicines for a dangerous fatal disease.

Clear characteristics all the participants of the exam receive from the Brown-haired man, whose role is played by Adar Beck. The most mean is White. He forces the Deaf to spoil his sheet, using his suggestibility, after which Black decides to tie the aggressor, so that he does not interfere with close-knit work in the team.

Swarthy tortures Brown, trying to cut her leg with a sharp sheet of paper, considering it a "duck decoy". After that, White threatens to kill all, taking the gun from the guard, and shoots at Chernoy.

Left alone in the room, White cries out to the observer and the guard that he passed the exam, because there is no one else left, and the time has already come. However, in fact, the time has not yet expired, just the timer was launched in an accelerated mode, and the man is taken out of the office as not fulfilling the conditions.

The blonde, whose role is played by Natalie Cox, after going into the room, finds the deaf glasses, uses them as a magnifying glass, and, having examined one of the sheets of paper, finds on it the inscription: "Question 1". The girl recalls that before leaving, the observer asked: "Are there any questions?" When the office is joined by the deaf who turned out to be a representative of the company, the Blonde answers: "No, there are no questions", and gets a job in the firm.

Criticism

The picture was received by film critics ambiguously. The main emphasis was on the individuality of each character. All applicants are universal types that are found in the world, yet they do not even have names. A lot of interest is caused by the actors involved in the "Exam" film. Some of them are familiar to the viewer: Gemma Chan, Colin Salmon, Jimi Mistry, others were less flickering on the big screen: Luke Mably, Adar Beck, the third part - are generally unknown to the public. Each character embodies one of the traditional types: social Darwinist, religious fanatic, philosopher, player and psychologist. Each of them has its own methods of struggle.

Hazeldine plays with the spectator and characters, technically manipulating the stereotypes, the audience perception and the riddle, the answer to which is known only to him.
