Principle of operation of SLR cameras

One of the most common mistakes of beginning photographers is their too much hope of achieving modern technology. Forums dedicated to digital photos, overflowing with jokes over newcomers. For example, a person has a great desire to learn how to photograph well, but does not want to understand photos. He hopes that his new mirror camera will do everything for him, and good photos will be obtained on the machine, but miracles do not exist. Subsequently, a novice photographer ceases to deal with this hobby, having spent a large amount of money on it (buying a mirror camera) or begins to read about the correct photography. Our article will be useful to the second category of beginners who will be interested to learn the principle of the DSLR of its difference from a conventional digital camera.

The first thing that is easy to replace, is the similarity of appearance in SLR cameras and digital cameras, except for overall dimensions. Sony SLRs are larger than conventional digital cameras. But the mirror has a completely different working principle. For starters, a SLR camera allows you to view the image of a photographer the same as it looks. And in a digital camera, the image is edited before it hits the screen, this is another difference from the DSLRs. They have no additional electronic parts and wires between the image and the photographer, which can somehow distort the image.

Mirror cameras from that and are called mirror, because the image hits the viewfinder passing only through a certain number of lenses and a rotating mirror installed inside the camera. Due to this, it is not distorted in any way. But such an explanation does not fully express the principle of the operation of SLR cameras. To get a more detailed explanation, we will track the path of the light beam that creates our picture. The first thing the image gets on the lens of the product, there is a refraction. Physics explains this by the fact that you have the opportunity to reduce or enlarge the image as you want. After passing through the lens of the lens, it is sent to the camera's rotary mirror, after which it hits the pentaprism of refraction directly into the viewfinder. You can say in the viewfinder you see the reflection of what is happening in front of the object. Some Nikon SLR cameras can have two designs - one for shooting, and another for previewing the image.

What happens immediately at the time of photography?

Taking the desired position and aiming the lens in the desired direction, the photographer presses the shutter release button. At the same time, the rockers push the swivel mirror upward, blocking the viewfinder. Therefore, at the moment of shooting there is nothing to be seen. Then the beam of light travels the same way as when viewing the image through the viewfinder, but instead of being reflected in the viewfinder, it is displayed on the photosensitive element. In SLR cameras, it is a matrix (image sensor). In the film soap boxes, they are actually the film itself. The time for which the shutter is opened is called the delay of descent.

In this article we have familiarized ourselves with the standard operating procedure of a digital SLR with a single lens.
